I was going to buy a used dx-7 but they already sold it, so my only choice now are a vz-1 and a poly-800 that im not very interested and the dx-7 was cheaper than the vz, so i will probably not buy anything. Or is the vz way better than it looks?

I'm v happy with my Korg MS2000, that's my first synth. I would recommend you find one, but I'm sure someone who knows more about these things will suggest something better.

Me and my Casiotone are very happy together.

My SK-1 was permanently set on 'fantasy' back in the day. It went well with the rumba rhythm at full speed. Alec Empire can eat a ____.

I had a Casio VZ1 a few years ago, and I oft. It's a very very good synthesiser, and uses a method of synthesis slightly akin to that in the yamaha DX range, but (IMO) much more powerful. The downside is that it is VERY difficult to program sounds into, and the pre-set sounds are really shit. For a first synth you can't beat Roland's Juno 6, Juno 60 or Juno106. Very good to learn on, and nice-sounding enough to be a keeper.

"and I oft." is supposed to say"and I often wish I hadn't sold it" BTW

Well, I have been reliably informed that you can get pretty cool "cracked" software synthesisers but I don't believe a word. I'd stick to the Casio stuff myself. More Africa in it.

casiotones are way cool. i used to have a rhythmic 6, but now i have acquired a Casio CK500, which has a radio and twin cassette decks. oooh la-la!

three months pass...
I have a korg Polysix and I LOVE it. i don't know much about synths in general, but you should get one. And look on the internet to see if it needs maintenance of some kind, the older they are the more likely this is.
