It's the BEST BRITISH SITCOM poll!

Inspired by this, this, this, and this, let's see if we can do a better job of this than the GBP.

As far as the list goes, I thought each series of Blackadder was distinct enough to warrant its own option, and I didn't want any more than 25 choices.

Fuck, that closing date is obviously wrong. Can it be changed to two weeks from today?

nate woolls, Thursday, 6 December 2007 13:18 (seventeen years ago)

blackadder II, innit?

grimly fiendish, Thursday, 6 December 2007 13:18 (seventeen years ago)

How did you chose this list?

Tom D., Thursday, 6 December 2007 13:20 (seventeen years ago)

no On The Up no cred

blueski, Thursday, 6 December 2007 13:21 (seventeen years ago)

First of many such posts I fear

Tom D., Thursday, 6 December 2007 13:21 (seventeen years ago)

you can't change a closing date.

i voted for father ted, of course.

but you'll have to start a new poll because there's no I'm Alan Partridge and Dom's about to descend with godly wrath.

Just got offed, Thursday, 6 December 2007 13:22 (seventeen years ago)

there's no I'm Alan Partridge and Dom's about to descend with godly wrath.

God's about to descend with godly wrath

Tom D., Thursday, 6 December 2007 13:22 (seventeen years ago)

Rising Damp?

Frogman Henry, Thursday, 6 December 2007 13:24 (seventeen years ago)

From the OFAH poll started by Dom, and the Britains Best Sitcom thread started 3 years ago, with a few newer ones thrown in. No science to it.

nate woolls, Thursday, 6 December 2007 13:24 (seventeen years ago)

Alan Partridge & Rising Damp were both on the shortlist but didn't make the cut.

nate woolls, Thursday, 6 December 2007 13:25 (seventeen years ago)

The Vicar of Dibley is a comedy?

Louis is right though, Ted it is. It's the only thing I can watch over and over again. Apart from Dad's Army. And Spaced. And the first season of Black Books.

Partridge didn't make the cut but AbFab did? Man, you're tough.

Ned Trifle II, Thursday, 6 December 2007 13:27 (seventeen years ago)

but 'the vicar of dibley' did ^_^

XPOST!!!!

Just got offed, Thursday, 6 December 2007 13:27 (seventeen years ago)

EXTRAS???!?!?!?! ALL FOUR BLACKADDER SERIES SEPARATELY????!?!?!?!

Just got offed, Thursday, 6 December 2007 13:28 (seventeen years ago)

jesus

nate woolls, Thursday, 6 December 2007 13:29 (seventeen years ago)

Red Dwarf would've got more votes than half of these

blueski, Thursday, 6 December 2007 13:29 (seventeen years ago)

You could have another poll with the ones that are missing from this list, another one: "Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads"

Tom D., Thursday, 6 December 2007 13:29 (seventeen years ago)

"Till Death Do Us Part"

Tom D., Thursday, 6 December 2007 13:30 (seventeen years ago)

xp to louis

yes although i agree all series were different I think the 'divide and conquer' aspect might come into play here and ill-favour the bladder voting public.

Ste, Thursday, 6 December 2007 13:30 (seventeen years ago)

haha, this is true, ste, but surely increase the number of options to 28 in that case?

Just got offed, Thursday, 6 December 2007 13:31 (seventeen years ago)

blackadder II, though. really. innit?

with ted hot on its heels.

grimly fiendish, Thursday, 6 December 2007 13:31 (seventeen years ago)

Likey Lads & Whatever Happened.. were both considered. Most polls seem to end up with, like, 3 choices with 4+ votes, 20 choices with 1 vote, and 40 choices with no votes. Thought it would be more interesting this way. Obviously, some hard decisions had to be made. Beginning to wish I hadn't bothered.

nate woolls, Thursday, 6 December 2007 13:32 (seventeen years ago)

I think I preferred Blackadder III

Tom D., Thursday, 6 December 2007 13:32 (seventeen years ago)

^^^

Just got offed, Thursday, 6 December 2007 13:33 (seventeen years ago)

Blackadder I & IV = not good enough to be in a poll of best sitcoms

Tom D., Thursday, 6 December 2007 13:33 (seventeen years ago)

I think I preferred Blackadder III

just because of MacAdder amirite?

blueski, Thursday, 6 December 2007 13:34 (seventeen years ago)

I liked Stephen Fry's Wellington

Tom D., Thursday, 6 December 2007 13:35 (seventeen years ago)

YOU MISSED OUT WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THE LIKELY LADS!!???????

Mark G, Thursday, 6 December 2007 13:36 (seventeen years ago)

III was definitely the peak of their performance

god yes Wellington was a great furious character, Fry was fantastic.

"tea?"
"immediately"

Ste, Thursday, 6 December 2007 13:37 (seventeen years ago)

System, Wednesday, 10 September 2008 23:01 (sixteen years ago)

i'm laughing already

blueski, Wednesday, 10 September 2008 23:43 (sixteen years ago)

Blackadder II, then Father Ted, then Blackadder III, then maybe One Foot In The Grave, then fucking daylight.

King Boy Pato, Thursday, 11 September 2008 09:13 (sixteen years ago)

^^^ This guy knows comedy

Vagina McKee (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 11 September 2008 09:35 (sixteen years ago)

Just watched an episode of Filthy Rich and Catflap. I'd never realised how incredibly riddled it was with bbc in jokes.

Has become terrible with age, but it had it's moments.

Ste, Thursday, 11 September 2008 12:08 (sixteen years ago)

No, wait, I didn't see Porridge in there. Or a few others.

To tell the truth, I think I quickly scanned after I saw Extras on that list.

King Boy Pato, Thursday, 11 September 2008 12:51 (sixteen years ago)

Extras wins the 'biggest slide in quality' poll. at least i went from loving it to hating it far too quickly.

blueski, Thursday, 11 September 2008 12:55 (sixteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

System, Thursday, 11 September 2008 23:01 (sixteen years ago)

No Reggie Perrin, no credibility.

Venga, Friday, 12 September 2008 00:12 (sixteen years ago)

3 people thought Ab Fab was better than Porridge, Blackadder and Dad's Army FFS.

Billy Dods, Friday, 12 September 2008 08:26 (sixteen years ago)

haha what a spectacular disaster

Ste, Friday, 12 September 2008 08:29 (sixteen years ago)

3 people thought Ab Fab was better than Porridge, Blackadder and Dad's Army

Or they did what I do all the time and voted for some random button-pushing bollocks because polls are shite.

The Real Slim Whitman (Noodle Vague), Friday, 12 September 2008 08:31 (sixteen years ago)

THAT'S HOW WE ENDED UP WITH EIGHTEEN YEARS OF THATCHER MAJOR TORY HELL

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 12 September 2008 09:58 (sixteen years ago)

Pretty sure that's 29 years and counting.

The Real Slim Whitman (Noodle Vague), Friday, 12 September 2008 10:00 (sixteen years ago)

more Filthy Rich & Catflap; the Trivial Pursuit/TVam episode is epic.

And there's an episode where Rick is contemplating doing a tv commercial, there is a mention of the Andrex puppy ad - which astonishingly Rick now does indeed do the voice over for. Amazing facts!

Ste, Friday, 12 September 2008 14:56 (sixteen years ago)

Rob Brydon claimed to be the voice of the Andrex puppy a while back.
