We are going to the cinema tonight. The choice is somewhat uninspiring TBH. Tyneside cinema isn't really making it, here's the choice at the odeon:
"Fred Claus" "Hitman" "American Gangster" "Beowulf" "Stardust" "3.10 to Yuma" "Aaja Nachle" "Bee Movie" "Daddy Day Camp" "Dus Kayanihaan" "Good Luck Chuck" "Ratatouille" "Shrooms" "The golden Compass"
Do not want: "adapted by/written by Neil Gaiman" "starring angelina jolie" slasher movie feelgood kids movie
Do not fancy much: "western" "bollywood"
"Golden Compass" seems the best of the bunch tough it all looks a bit uninspiring to me.
Thoughts/suggestions plz dear ilx?

Reviews for Golden Compass are shitty, but at least it's under 2 hours.

what about driving out of town to see The Assassination Of Jesse James... or the KERMODE-APPROVED Magic Flute?

If it was me and I had to go to one of those, I'd go with the Bollywood flick.

American Gangster is pretty good, and I'm saying that as a huge fan of the Wire.
3:10 to Yuma is very good.
Other than that, Golden Compass might be the way to go if you're interested in it, though reviews are mixed at the moment.

xxxpost Kermode's review of Magic Flute nearly put me right off. And I love The Magic Flute.

I've only seen "Ratatouille" of those and liked well enough. The only one of the others I'd consider is "3.10 to Yuma," but I passed on its theatrical run.

Trailer for "American Gangster" looked kind of lame. Pity all the local galleries close at 6.00 :( Trying to think of s.th. else to do. star and shadow cinema has this:

but the 7.00 start is a killer. We'll miss the 1st hour.
