^^^ this is true. After watching that I tried to go "missing" as often as possible.

picking between home alone 1 and 2 is so hard. the first one has the fact that it was first and has the better big booby trap end scene, but 2 is basically any 7-12 year old's most wild fantasy. luxury suite via conning a hotel employee into charging your dad's car, etc. so much great shit in that movie.

it's funny to watch them now and count the times that harry and marv would have died during the big climax scene. i think in 2, within like a 30 second span, marv gets his head lit on fire, tries to put it out in a toilet that has like gasoline in it then he falls 3 stories into the basement and has a suitcase full of books dropped on his head from 30 ft up.

it must have been awesome writing that movie knowing that you could literally get away with anything in that scene because your core audience wouldn't know any better.

i got a "talkboy" for christmas that year. it was all that i wanted. when i played back people's voices at the slow speed it didn't fool anyone. there are a lot fewer uses for it in real life than in the movie.

I was given a free pass to see a sneak preview of the Pagemaster, but walked out because I didn't know it was animated and there wasn't shit going on with the sword that was trumpeted in the preview.

home alone 1 has a lot of genuinely funny bits, i remember cracking up as a kid when kevin refuses to tell the checkout lady his name "because you're a STRANGER." they knew their audience well.
