I forgot to take a pic of the duck confit w/ white beans I had at Montsouris last night - damn their cooking is OTM right now and the bulk of their new menu is really hearty winter food.

lunch at Rice for their spectacular drunken noodles - they're one of the few places around here that serves it without green bell peppers, a foodstuff about which I made myself perfectly clear on another thread.

That looks like it could use some green bell peppers.

I wanted some black rice thing for dessert like they have over at Regent Thai but my only options at Rice were mango sticky rice or ice cream. I instantly regretted ordering the green tea ice cream when it came out with raspberry sauce and visible ice crystals. Took two nasty bites and quit.

and yes, the raspberry sauce was brown.

Walked by the brand new ACKC on the way back so I stopped to check it out, got a couple truffles to hopefully end the lunch on a good note. Orange brandy alexander on the left, blueberry cardamom on the right. They were shit. I've had some great stuff at K!ingsbury Chocolate's location in Alexandria so I'll try ACKC again some other time and hope this was a fluke.

I'd like to try BLT Market but my NYT dining agenda is so long at this point that I just don't see it happening.

Ha, I had the same beer yesterday! Although I felt guilty, because I feel some kind of family allegiance to Harer beer instead.

When it's available I usually go with the Hakim stout at Ethiopian restaurants (I believe it's brewed by Harar?)

(xpost) ZS, it's both a point of pride and shame for me that I spend a far-too-substantial chunk of my income in eating & drinking (and a couple of these pictures were older).

I want to see what the inside of Times Square Applebees looks like, if you would DEIGN to eat there.

There are very very few places I wouldn't at least try, but the odds of me being in midtown manhattan without better options are pretty slim.

They spent about $2 to remodel the place from when it was a Quiznos and they're using the toasting conveyor belt to make their naan instead of the serious tandoor they have at 17th & L. Also they don't have the crowd volume or veteran staff to be able to turn the stuff out and keep it all fresh. That place was set up to fail, I anticipate they'll be closing soon.

daria, the sloe gin fizz was at Cork. There's a good one at the Tabard Inn, too (wednesdays & thursdays).
