Has anyone ever tried the mega-cheap Duggan's Dew? More like Duggan's DON'T.

Abbott, Saturday, 15 December 2007 00:14 (eighteen years ago)

I'm going for Red Breast even though Jameson is my most frequently imbibed shot.

I DIED, Saturday, 15 December 2007 00:48 (eighteen years ago)

How is it that none of my GISes turn up Jimmy McNulty slugging back Jameson from a halfpint bottle?

Oilyrags, Saturday, 15 December 2007 04:26 (eighteen years ago)

Why is your Irish whiskey thread illustrated by a picture of several bottles of Scotch?

ailsa, Saturday, 15 December 2007 08:39 (eighteen years ago)

Millars, obviously.

I'd like to try it someday.

El Tomboto, Saturday, 15 December 2007 08:40 (eighteen years ago)

cause it's the most attractive GIS result for 'whiskey'

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Saturday, 15 December 2007 13:33 (eighteen years ago)

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Saturday, 15 December 2007 13:33 (eighteen years ago)

"i don't think it's supposed to be sweet, homie..."

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Saturday, 15 December 2007 13:34 (eighteen years ago)

Powers!

mizzell, Saturday, 15 December 2007 23:31 (eighteen years ago)

HOOS' hotel hall monitoring and cookie cooking commotion paid off in a jubilant jug of Jameson!

How is it that I drink less than a pint of every other whiskey, and I am doubled over with headache come next morning, yet a fifth of the Irish and I feel like a champ?

Dickerson Pike, Tuesday, 18 December 2007 06:00 (eighteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

ILX System, Wednesday, 19 December 2007 00:01 (eighteen years ago)

Ugh, Jameson is okay. This russian guy I met was delighted that it was the "real" Irish whiskey (ie the one everyone here thinks of as regular proper whiskey first) at least nobody voted for Tullamore shite. Clearly Midleton was the real winner.

I know, right?, Wednesday, 19 December 2007 00:06 (eighteen years ago)

Jameson's = a good quality vs. cost ratio.

S-, Wednesday, 19 December 2007 00:30 (eighteen years ago)

Midleton isn't expensive.

I know, right?, Wednesday, 19 December 2007 00:31 (eighteen years ago)

two years pass...

midleton's MAD expensive

would now vote Bushmill's Black Bush fwiw

I'm not saying anything new here, but while Jameson is nice, Black Bush is way nicer. But Red Breast is nicer than both. Mmmm, Red Breast.

The New Dirty Vicar, Friday, 8 October 2010 15:01 (fifteen years ago)

i will certainly take that as a recommendation- bush nearly finished anyway.

I was once in a pub where a guy asked the barmaid "have you got a Black Bush?" and she said "mind your own fucking business!"

san te cross (onimo), Friday, 8 October 2010 15:06 (fifteen years ago)

2 red breasts plz barmaid

another al3x, Friday, 8 October 2010 15:15 (fifteen years ago)

scampsite (darraghmac), Saturday, 20 February 2021 01:18 (five years ago)

Powers is horrid.

chap, Saturday, 20 February 2021 01:19 (five years ago)

Powers is for hot whiskey, this would be well known amongst the natives

scampsite (darraghmac), Saturday, 20 February 2021 01:23 (five years ago)

Never saw this poll. Results surprising, would've voted Powers

Josefa, Saturday, 20 February 2021 01:33 (five years ago)

I miss the old Powers bottle, the new one isn't "bad" but seems off to me.

buzza, Saturday, 20 February 2021 03:55 (five years ago)

I miss the old Powers price point more than the old bottle. For reasons unknown to me the price jumped about 40% in one swoop a few years back, here in my neck of the woods. I was inconsolable.

Compromise isn't a principle, it's a method (Aimless), Saturday, 20 February 2021 04:34 (five years ago)

the tullamore d.e.w. 12 year is a nice midrange blend that i have enjoyed. all redbreast expressions are epic but out of reach for regular enjoyment.

call all destroyer, Saturday, 20 February 2021 04:46 (five years ago)

Would always have found it a little clumsy of a blend but tbh its years since i tried it and my tastes have changed somewhat

scampsite (darraghmac), Saturday, 20 February 2021 11:31 (five years ago)

If repolling now youd add teelings small batch and writer's tears copper pot and each would merit attn at the more everyday price range
