Salzburg and Budapest are to die for. That Budapest one above doesn't capture the beauty of the place, despite having the city's best building in it.

more Switzerland: Gruyere!

http://www.funmurphys.com/photos/blog/europe/gruyere1.jpg

Rob Bolton, Friday, 22 August 2008 14:29 (seventeen years ago)

I want to go there!

Matt DC, Friday, 22 August 2008 14:31 (seventeen years ago)

It's a great little town with the cheese factory just outside (all-Gruyere fondue is awesome decadence), and a beautiful castle on the top of the hill.

Oddly, it's also the location of HR Giger's museum/studio, and a bar he designed, which is worth it for the WTF factor
http://www.vagabondish.com/wp-content/uploads/hr-giger-bar-2.jpg

Rob Bolton, Friday, 22 August 2008 14:58 (seventeen years ago)

must. go to. Gruyere.

Rob Bolton, Friday, 22 August 2008 15:17 (seventeen years ago)

At what point in the year does it become too cold to go to Switzerland? I still have some holiday left...

Matt DC, Friday, 22 August 2008 15:17 (seventeen years ago)

I went in late Sept and it was really nice. But even in winter it's awesome. Some towns (especially ski/resort towns like Zermatt, Gstaad, etc), are actually more lively in the middle of winter.

Rob Bolton, Friday, 22 August 2008 15:21 (seventeen years ago)

London from above, at night

snoball, Saturday, 30 August 2008 09:33 (seventeen years ago)

OK, they are beautiful. One of my favourite things about The Apprentice is the aerial shots of London between scenes, and one of my favourite things is the view over London you get flying in to London City Airport from the north, over the Emirates/the City/St Pauls, looking right down the Thames then banking to go past Canary Wharf. Those photos are like a better version of doing some of that in real life.

[just imagine a flat city with lots of trees and a cluster of old bldgs and skyscrapers bundled in the middle, with river, a weird ziggurat off to one side and a big orange bridge and you've pretty much got it...]

What did you use for the panorama? I am now a big fan of Hugin.

Ed, Wednesday, 12 November 2008 11:11 (seventeen years ago)

it was autostitch which is really easy to use (but can be a wee bit hit and miss with levels etc), not a city, but here's one I did of the Bear Mountain lookout up the Hudson:

Is that building about one inch from the left and 3/4 inches up tilting, or is that some Gehry-esque design?

nickn, Monday, 14 December 2009 07:43 (sixteen years ago)

I noticed that myself. Yeah, that has to be at like a 20 degree angle, right? I don't know. It's some wacky Sim City 2000 shit, anyway.
