show is always on around this time. seminal reality "dating" show and a great way to burn a good 2 hours. classic.

classic car-wreck, lowest ebb of the human race type television.

yeah...it's awesome
― latebloomer, Tuesday, 18 December 2007 09:19 (eighteen years ago)
i just realized that i get to be officially freaked out that there are now people on next that are younger than me.
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 18 December 2007 09:48 (eighteen years ago)
yep. it's weird when that happens.
"my life..."

I cut my "depressing MTV dating show" milk teeth on Singled Out
― latebloomer, Tuesday, 18 December 2007 11:02 (eighteen years ago)
^me too. this then segued into "dismissed", which is probably the only mtv "dating" show i would rate ahead of next.
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 18 December 2007 11:03 (eighteen years ago)
i think there's a big time gap between singled out and dismissed but i can't remember anything between that time.
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 18 December 2007 11:04 (eighteen years ago)
i know a couple people who've been on next; i have no doubt that most of the contestants really are that dumb but its apparently 85%+ scripted
― max, Tuesday, 18 December 2007 11:20 (eighteen years ago)
Next doing gay episodes is some sort of progress; gays can be as scripted and dumb and shallow and money-hungry as straights, yay!

hahaha wikipedia trivia:
Erotic actress Lyla Lei was one of the five girls competing for a date with the main girl contestant in a lesbian themed show, where they listed her career as "Professional Go-Cart Racer."
― clotpoll, Tuesday, 18 December 2007 19:22 (eighteen years ago)
i have never heard of this show!
― Jordan, Tuesday, 18 December 2007 19:27 (eighteen years ago)
having known people on the one with the parents i can confirm that indeed it is scripted.
― chaki, Tuesday, 18 December 2007 19:30 (eighteen years ago)

Still sends me into fits.
― Eric H., Tuesday, 18 December 2007 19:35 (eighteen years ago)
wtf was there every any doubt this was scripted? do you guys really think every 20-something speaks purely in sexual double entendres that are just clean enough to air on basic cable?
― Alex in Baltimore, Tuesday, 18 December 2007 19:45 (eighteen years ago)
haha well obv the double entendres are scripted, but the actual "date" parts of the shows were up in the air.
lol max i would love to know all the liberties that mtv takes w/ these shows. fake moms on date my mom is a pretty good one.
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 18 December 2007 19:56 (eighteen years ago)

― J0rdan S., Friday, 21 December 2007 09:01 (eighteen years ago)
