The M6 Toll Road, and the off-peak special offer, classic/dud...

You konw the M6 is a bad road, and the new Toll Road that runs alongside for part of it.

The road gets very busy, so people can pay £4 per car (goez up Jan 1st 2008, btw), to skip the tailbacks and delays, fair enough, especially if it goes onto yr expenses claim.

However, if you use the road between 11:00 pm and 06:00 am, it's cheaper (it's £3 instead, I believe)

Why would you do that, when the normal M6 would be quiet anyway?

Maybe the M6 Toll just becomes a racetrack between those hours and the cops pocket the £3 in lieu of the fines they're not imposing or something.

I do like that road though - we haven't risked that section of the M6 proper in a couple of years now.

Irritatingly, National Express coaches tend to use the M6 proper (i.e. five hours to get through Walsall) when going north but the toll road when going back down south.

That's because taking people to London is important, depositing them back in their provincial hovels, not so.
