how can a person who is not insane live in a way that appears to be insane
i love my brother; he is great
but this is srsly how his apartments have always looked

piles of miscellany

rrrobyn, Friday, 21 December 2007 20:14 (eighteen years ago)

weird high-end decorative stuff that made of steel and glass that he has been given or has found

rrrobyn, Friday, 21 December 2007 20:14 (eighteen years ago)

a lot of contemporary art with a busy messy-on-purpose vibe

rrrobyn, Friday, 21 December 2007 20:15 (eighteen years ago)

a 1.5' x 1.5' tiled-mirrored cube

rrrobyn, Friday, 21 December 2007 20:16 (eighteen years ago)

a 10' x 0.8' wooden bench he made a couple of years ago and which looks like a rectangular log and which i always always bruise my shins on like this morning when i bruised my shin on it to that point right before blood happens ow

rrrobyn, Friday, 21 December 2007 20:18 (eighteen years ago)

this old univox keyboard

rrrobyn, Friday, 21 December 2007 20:19 (eighteen years ago)

mirrored cube aside this sounds awesome

milo z, Friday, 21 December 2007 20:20 (eighteen years ago)

seriously. photos pls? this sounds amazing!

Mark Clemente, Friday, 21 December 2007 20:22 (eighteen years ago)

this 1990 or something krups coffee-espresso machine

an unopened package of ground espresso in the cupboard next to some buillion cubes
i figured it out; it's okay; it's coffee

rrrobyn, Friday, 21 December 2007 20:22 (eighteen years ago)

Are there supposed to be pictures on this thread? Because if so, I can't see them...

snoball, Friday, 21 December 2007 20:23 (eighteen years ago)

He's doing it for a reaction.

B.L.A.M., Friday, 21 December 2007 20:23 (eighteen years ago)

yeah i haven't visited my bro in 2 yrs and in that time i've somehow come to appreciate the half-chaos
tho it overwhelms my brain i will tell you that

rrrobyn, Friday, 21 December 2007 20:24 (eighteen years ago)

there are no pictures but in words

rrrobyn, Friday, 21 December 2007 20:24 (eighteen years ago)

a word is worth a thousand pictures, actually

nabisco, Friday, 21 December 2007 20:26 (eighteen years ago)

well, maybe 950

nabisco, Friday, 21 December 2007 20:26 (eighteen years ago)

Are laundry piles separate from other miscellany?

nickalicious, Friday, 21 December 2007 20:26 (eighteen years ago)

some of the things that are here are here for a reaction, perhaps, but mostly b/c he thinks they are neat things
the 'organization' of these things are not done for a reaction at all; it is just the way he is
and yet he is concerned about appearances - he has a weirdly trained eye and it obv sees past or can't see what i see here

rrrobyn, Friday, 21 December 2007 20:26 (eighteen years ago)

Get him to post on this thread: dirt bag style

nickalicious, Friday, 21 December 2007 20:27 (eighteen years ago)

laundry pile is in the bathroom/laundry room, amazingly. clothes piles i'm assuming have some kind of reason to them - they're not as bad as i've seen in the past either
i love x a thousand that he has a washer and dryer omg

rrrobyn, Friday, 21 December 2007 20:28 (eighteen years ago)

he considers my way of dwelling to be more dirtbag than his
and yet i clean corners of kitchen counters and bedroom floors v well and my piles of stuff at least have themes to them

rrrobyn, Friday, 21 December 2007 20:30 (eighteen years ago)

lol ohgeez this is already a thread of self-discovery

rrrobyn, Friday, 21 December 2007 20:30 (eighteen years ago)

my thesis was an excuse for dirtbag style
his work is his excuse

rrrobyn, Friday, 21 December 2007 20:33 (eighteen years ago)

i just found an 8mm keystone film projector
jammed btwn some cds without cases and a bunch of papers and forms and instruction manuals for things he may or may not own

rrrobyn, Friday, 21 December 2007 20:35 (eighteen years ago)

Is your brother single?

Andi Mags, Friday, 21 December 2007 20:39 (eighteen years ago)

haha nah not these days

rrrobyn, Friday, 21 December 2007 20:41 (eighteen years ago)

a picture of me in my mom's old backyard in the 90s fell out of all those papers and things
i am wearing white t-shirt and a skirt and sitting on a blanket with some books and some grapes and a sandwich
my brother's dog is half hidden behind a blue lawnchair
white cat under a tree with her head turned away
a mountain in the background between many trees and a far-off telephone pole
i look young and pretty and fairly relaxed
most of the books are actually magazines

rrrobyn, Friday, 21 December 2007 20:41 (eighteen years ago)

we really do need pictures

milo z, Friday, 21 December 2007 20:41 (eighteen years ago)

or perhaps some quick MS Paint sketches of the layout

milo z, Friday, 21 December 2007 20:41 (eighteen years ago)

"a lot of contemporary art with a busy messy-on-purpose vibe"

This should be represented by ASCII art

Jarlrmai, Friday, 21 December 2007 20:47 (eighteen years ago)

the space is pretty awesome - it's like 12 ft x 30 ft rectangle with super tall ceilings and then above 1/3 of it is an open 2nd floor where his bed and closet (also open) is
windows all the way up one wall (the wall that is 12 ft wide)
annoying black wrought-iron spiral staircase that should just be a regular set of stairs = accident waiting to happen / accidents that have actually already happened

rrrobyn, Friday, 21 December 2007 20:51 (eighteen years ago)

am going to have a shower - big rain-shower shower head aw yeah + dr bronners peppermint soap - he has gone more eco-aware

rrrobyn, Friday, 21 December 2007 20:54 (eighteen years ago)

i don't really understand glass coasters
but i'm coming around - they are at least pretty

shower was invigorating, laundry almost dry, coffee better with instant hot chocolate in it

rrrobyn, Friday, 21 December 2007 21:21 (eighteen years ago)

Coffee and chocolate sounds great right about now.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 21 December 2007 21:30 (eighteen years ago)

This sounds like my place if my stuff were way cooler and my place were three times as big and I cleaned more often.

So, not really

nabisco, Friday, 21 December 2007 22:35 (eighteen years ago)

i want some of this indie chocolate, yo.

Jordan, Friday, 21 December 2007 22:37 (eighteen years ago)

That guy is a legend.

moley, Friday, 21 December 2007 23:16 (eighteen years ago)

i have been informed tonight that the only reason my brother's place is as relatively clean as it is now is b/c my mom has been over to visit (she lives kinda far away) twice in the past two months

regardless of all i have said, it is very nice and comfortable and good to be here

rrrobyn, Saturday, 22 December 2007 07:05 (eighteen years ago)

also he has so many ridiculous magazines
i love them

rrrobyn, Saturday, 22 December 2007 07:06 (eighteen years ago)

and a fireplace (electric but hey!)

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2346/2127725237_f30cf95685_o.jpg

yeah this is also pretty much my place but bigger and with nicer stuff and less hippie factor and fewer books abt blah blah whatever and more white furniture & towels. oh and a freakin VIEW like whoa

rrrobyn, Saturday, 22 December 2007 07:18 (eighteen years ago)

cube

rrrobyn, Saturday, 22 December 2007 07:19 (eighteen years ago)

i just hit my head on the stupid iron spiral staircase gah

rrrobyn, Saturday, 22 December 2007 08:12 (eighteen years ago)

man i hate having linoleum floors

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Saturday, 22 December 2007 08:20 (eighteen years ago)

rrrobyn, I have thought this for like the past whatever number of wdylll threads you've posted pics to, but I am now finally drunk and careless enough to say it:

your hair is my favorite hair in the world

El Tomboto, Saturday, 22 December 2007 08:27 (eighteen years ago)

your hair is like if jason bourne was hairs and the atmosphere was a street full of people that wanted him dead

El Tomboto, Saturday, 22 December 2007 08:29 (eighteen years ago)

"they don't make mistakes"

El Tomboto, Saturday, 22 December 2007 08:30 (eighteen years ago)

lol bedtime for bomtoto

El Tomboto, Saturday, 22 December 2007 08:32 (eighteen years ago)

best ever complement on my hair i think
and like jason bourne i don't think i fully understand my hair's identity yet. how does it know how to street fight and drive a car like that? where did its killer instincts come from? born or bred? it has a russian passport; i saw it once

rrrobyn, Saturday, 22 December 2007 08:38 (eighteen years ago)

xpost - ohman yeah my floors are linoleum but i have big rugs over them except in kitchen
bro of course obv has wood floors and tiled kitchen. so nice (when clean.)

rrrobyn, Saturday, 22 December 2007 08:38 (eighteen years ago)

4-ft-long bright orange level hanging vertical on bathroom wall

rrrobyn, Saturday, 22 December 2007 08:39 (eighteen years ago)
