I haven't thought about dessert yet. Probably chocolate cake. It's just going to be us and the kids, so why not make what they love?

Heya Beth!

No dinner menu to my knowledge, something'll come together. But tonight I'm making a minestrone to use up a lot of fresh ingredients before I leave here for a few days.

Day before Christmas Eve at my parents: we're ordering out pizza and having margaritas. (When my father mentioned that he thought this menu was "bi-national," I suggested we also throw in some lefse to round things out.)

Christmas eve: some kind of cheese fondue thing, plus cookies and candy and whatever other yummy stuff is around

Christmas Day at my parent's: prime rib and other stuff (all I know is that we're bringing a salad)

An alternate Chinese option

I think I'm getting prime rib at my coworkers' aunt's house. I hate you, 2007.

The only time I've done the Chinese thing was one year when my sister was in town and she insisted on "tradition." I will post what we have "for Christmas."

Oops! Sorry about my lack of Hanukkah knowledge. But come to think of it, the thread title does not exclude past-tense dinners.

We thought about going out to the Chinese restaurant, but if you knew our local Chinese restaurant you'd understand why we opted for door #2.

I am making an early xmas food for today, as I'm going interstate to my parents for xmas day. So I'm baking a chicken with garlic and soy sauce and oil basted on it, which we can have cold, with a tuna pasta salad with baby spinach and cherry tomatoes, some potato salad, and a big tableful of cheese, olives, dips, crackers, etc etc, plus some pudding and pannetone.

At my parents I imagine there'll be the inevitable turkey, ham, pork and gazillions of roast veg, as always.
