Having just seen the three-part Imagination Land special, I'm inclined to agree that Butters is mega-awesome, but Randy still wins out AFAIC.

Butters totally and utterly wins. he is so fucking awesome.

remember when they get in the ninja battle and he gets hurt and they make him out to look like a horrible dog? even thinking about that episode sort of makes me tear up with laughter.

this show is REALLY hit or miss and Cartman is the obvious choice as best comic creation but yeah behind him, def Butters.

The Cartman/Butters cocksucking episode is one of my TV highlights of the year. Butters in a second, and over Cartman, probably.

The scene(s) addressed above by Table notwithstanding, I believe that Butters' tour de force achievement is in the episode where Cartman convinces him of some impending apocyliptic scenario & traps him him in a fallout shelter... all so C can dine at the Mexican metroplex or something.

Just saw the (magnificent) Marjorine episode and Butters edges closer to my vote. Although if there's one trick that episode missed, it was to have the dead pig reincarnated and running amok as genuine devil-spawn.

Best Randy moment: when in training to beat up other dads at Little League games in "The Losing Edge", getting up at 6am, lumbering down the stairs, cracking an egg into a pint glass, and then tipping it into a frying pan and drinking a beer

Also flagging that guy down when he needs a lift in the Warcraft episode and just punching him and throwing him on the floor for no reason

Randy is phenomenal in all the sporty ones, although Stanley's Cup will always be my favourite.
