I have read the wikipedia article, the apple site, and a football messageboard, and none of them helped me.

I gather that if for some reason I wanted to play "Iron Man", then open a document in Appleworks, then show the widget for the weather in Sydney, Automator is my guy for a one-touch command.

I'm with you. I've never used Automator -- it just seems like building the workflows would take more time than running the workflows would save.
