The final trailer for Attack of the Clones is out.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 10 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

This mirror site should provide more links in the next couple of days. As for the trailer itself -- things are looking pretty good.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 10 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

No sign of Jar Jar, at least.

bnw, Sunday, 10 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

And for what it's worth, here's a link to the 'Holonet News' site referred to at the end of the trailer. The LucasFilm elves came up with another goodie to pass the time. Still, though, with talk about clones and emergency powers and all, maybe they should have linked directly to CNN.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 10 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Hm, you're right, Jar Jar is absent still. Playing their cards close to the chest on that one.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 10 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

forbidden love and attack of the clones , fucking christ is there a B movie cliche guide George "Hack" Lucas is getting his ideas frim. I would sooner watch the wankery that Peter Jackson sold his soul for then this .

anthony, Sunday, 10 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Judging from the trailers, Hayden Christensen isn't even close to Jake Lloyd in the acting stakes. But I do like Ewan McGregor rockin' the Allman Brothers look. I don't know, maybe I've just mellowed on beards.

Nicole, Sunday, 10 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I was about to say, Nicole, this is new! Will Tom be able to grow his beard in peace now? ;-)

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 10 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

No. I'm not that mellow.

Nicole, Sunday, 10 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

At least we know Natalie Portman can handle a rod...

JM, Monday, 11 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Moby could have told you that.

Nicole, Monday, 11 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I wasn't going to say anything...

Ned Raggett, Monday, 11 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ned, letting that one go? The aftereffects of old age;>

Curse this dial-up! Damn thing froze 3 times, while I was trying to load "Forbidden Love". Ah well, I'll give it another try, later.

I wonder if "Attack" has other fans prepping their sleeping bags for their long haul in front of the box office (as "Phantom Menace" did)? M. Lucas, as always, is laughing up his sleeve, hungry for the bucks to roll in. Wonder whether the missus needs a new fur?

Nichole Graham, Monday, 11 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

one of the blokes who works here went to the premiere of Phantom Menace I found out last week, him and a bunch of others had a bloke queueing for months, they got followed everywhere by cameras, were in the first 200 punters in so were let in up the red carpet individually. The schedule was so hectic he got in, sat down and promptly fell asleep and woke up at the pod race!

chris, Monday, 11 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The trailer looks pretty hot. I'm particular excited by Palpatine as the EVIL Abraham Lincoln.

DV, Monday, 11 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The new lego star wars toys are also out soon! yay!

jel --, Monday, 11 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

jel --, Monday, 11 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The LEGO STAR WARS collection expands in 2002 with 17 stunning new items, including models based on classic STAR WARS, Episode 1 and the May movie premiere of Episode II: Attack of the Clones. Faithful STAR WARS and LEGO enthusiasts alike will appreciate a one-foot scale model of the ever familiar Yoda, made from 1,075 LEGO bricks that will be available at mass retail.

mmm, made of lego I am.

chris, Monday, 11 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Are you just pretending to be excited by this, Ned?

N., Monday, 11 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

< a href = "http://www.lego.com/starwars/episode/">here you go Jel.

chris, Monday, 11 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Not yet seen Episode One I have!

DG, Monday, 11 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

arse.

I'm not particularly excited by the film, as I thought Phantom menace was poor, but the toys Nick, the toys!!!!

chris, Monday, 11 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Cool! thanks Chris!

jel --, Monday, 11 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Looks like Lucas is going to deliver. Maybe the TPM letdown/LotR heat did the man some good. Some of this stuff looks amazing.

Omar, Monday, 11 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Are you just pretending to be excited by this, Ned?

Of course not. Check earlier threads I started. ;-)

Ned Raggett, Monday, 11 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

but it all looks ufcking fake - the great thing about the first 3 was that they looked real - even the battles, the death star, the stormptroopers banging their heads on the door...this shit all looks fake, computer generated abttles -ooh look technology - force ahs no time for this

Queen G, Monday, 11 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The way I see it, the looks of the two sets of films are less determined by Lucas' change in vision and more, as you note, by the matter of the technology at hand. In otherwards, had 2002-equivalent software and special effects material existed in 1977, Lucas would have used that and the whole original film would look a lot different.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 11 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Bah. This looks lame compared to "The Star Wars Christmas Special". Now that was ART.

geeta, Monday, 11 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Wookie porn! Woo!

Ned Raggett, Monday, 11 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Quit putting such disturbing images in my head!;>

Nichole Graham, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Trust me, the special will do plenty of that for you on its own. As you can see here.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

one month passes...
Not long to go now! Natalie Portman! YAY!

Got the new R2-D2 and C-3PO action figures today...R2 actually beeps!

There is a Jedi called Kit Fisto...it made me chuckle...

jel --, Wednesday, 24 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Avoiding Episode 2 as comprehensively as did I Episode 1 shall I be!

DG, Wednesday, 24 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

nine years pass...

I'm watching the "Clone Wars" 3D animated series for the first time. It's way better than any of the prequels, which sort of goes without saying. It's actually really well-made. Great camera shots, great lighting, decent voice acting, and really well-written. Taking the Clone Wars one battle at a time is really quite an experience. You actually care for some of these characters, and get a much better sense of what a struggle the whole thing was. The Clone Wars as depicted in the prequels just seemed to be alot of white noise.

Telephoneface (Adam Bruneau), Monday, 5 September 2011 02:55 (fourteen years ago)

You should see the 2D series by Genndy Tartakofsky that the current series is based on, totally dope.
