Pockets minimalist, but too much stuff in the bag.
contents of pockets: -notebook (with IDs & debit card) -cell phone -pen -keys
bag i take with me to work, class & errands: -1" binder -some magazine -some book -ubuntu live cd -flash drive -mala beads
― BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Monday, 31 December 2007 09:39 (eighteen years ago)
mine's pretty simple i guess:
contents of pockets: wallet phone keys (clipped on to belt look tucked into back pocket) pen
bag to class: 5-divider notebook magazine/newspaper mechanical pencil pen

― J0rdan S., Monday, 31 December 2007 10:13 (eighteen years ago)
usually blender or GQ (can afford 0 of the clothes they talk about but they usually run really good features) or new york times/usa today (we get those both for free on campus + local paper and st louis dispatch so i usually grab one even if i don't think i'll read it) or the school paper if i have something in it.
― J0rdan S., Monday, 31 December 2007 10:15 (eighteen years ago)
GQ & Details are mags I totally feel ashamed to be buying for some reason, but they do have killer features (& Details has Andy Langer!).

― J0rdan S., Monday, 31 December 2007 10:33 (eighteen years ago)
wallet, change, phone, keys. the globe and mail, if i haven't read it yet. the local free dailies, if i haven't done the puzzles yet.
always a book- usually a novel, or short stories. even if i do not bring a bag with me, i will grab a book small enough for a jacket pocket if i expect to be on a bus or in a lineup etc etc for any length of time.

avoid it when i can.

I keep it in separated bags at home that I keep telling myself I'll take to the bank sooner or later.
― The Reverend, Monday, 31 December 2007 10:48 (eighteen years ago)
Yeah I've got a milk bottle at home for nick/dime/pennies, and a little container labeled "Laundry Money" for quarters.
New apartment uses debit cards for laundry machines (!!), so the latter's kinds useless now.
― BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Monday, 31 December 2007 10:49 (eighteen years ago)
I pay for most small purchases in cash, so I always have tons of it. When I was SF, I didn't want to be carrying change and there were always lots of bums around, so I just gave all my change to the nearest bum.

pockets: keys, phone, wallet, gum (sometimes). bag: cases for spectacles + sunglasses, various bits of paper and tat that seem to collect there. wallet goes in bag if i am wearing the "tight jeans". ipod goes in bag when not in use, otherwise gets hooked onto belt. (this also serves as handy reminder to put on belt.)
― haitch, Monday, 31 December 2007 11:12 (eighteen years ago)
oh fuck i always always have gum with me. also usually have ipod in hoodie pocket.
― J0rdan S., Monday, 31 December 2007 11:16 (eighteen years ago)
* Wallet * A purse for coins * Pen * ID * Cell phone * A portable CD player * 3-6 CDs to listen to * Condoms * Something to read in public transport (a book, a comic, or a magazine) * Keys obviously
I have a bag with me to carry all these, usually I don't have anything in my pockets, because I think that's sorta uncool.
― Tuomas, Monday, 31 December 2007 11:21 (eighteen years ago)
Oh yeah, I forgot that I always have my "won't be coming home tonight" beauty bag with me, because you never know where you end up for the night. It includes:
* Deodorant * Toothbrush * Toothpaste * Hair gel
― Tuomas, Monday, 31 December 2007 11:28 (eighteen years ago)
I try to minimize the pocket shit (tight pants + increasing paunch = bad news cell phone bulge or whatever), but I keep my phone on vibrate at all times (I don't really fuck with Fur Elise and I get tired of whatever ringtone I download after a couple days, plus it's a pain to put it on/off silent when it needs be) so it needs to stay in pocket.

Wallet (in front pocket.) Stupid cellphone in the other.
My briefcase which I carry to work has all sorts of crap in it. Library books, peppermints, doctor's notes, ink pens, some sort of magnifying card, iPod, stenographer notebooks, paycheck stubs from September, magazines. Isn't that interesting?

nerve.com wants to know, what are five things you can't live without!

Of course you "can" live without most of it, but a lot of us choose not to.
One of my high priority things is a removable shower head. No, im not talkin for reasons of which most of you are thinking........however it is good for that too.. BUT I can't stand shower heads that are not removable because I just feel it doesn't rinse as well otherwise. Especially when you're in a rush. It's so much easier, cleaner, and practical.
What's something you know you can't live without. Excluding vehicles, sex, cell phones, computers, tv, and video games. I know those will be the main ones listed if I don't exclude them now.

lj you carry your passport everywhere? is that wise?
non-bike version: oyster card, phone, housekeys, book, cash, cash cards, water (unless en route to somewhere they take your water off you at the door)
bike version: oyster card, phone, housekeys, bike keys, cash, cash cards, water, work door zapper thing, work garage zapper thing, assorted biketools, waterproofs, lights

The trouble with pockets is that it only needs a forgetful change of clothing and you're cashless and oyster-less.
