can we have a clarification on the rules again - i think you get points for the # of years below 100 of the dededent, right? not the total # of dead people on your list (which is how rotten.com tallies its results). in other words, putting 99 year old Manoel de Oliveira on yer list is hardly worth it.

I'd really prefer it if they were on Rotten.com, but since Pleasant Plains started this thread and didn't mention it, I'm not sure I can do anything about it. Although if Dom or anyone else (I haven't created deadpool08.xls yet, so I don't know if others have picked questionably famous people, too) could be persuaded to change their picks, that'd be cool.

Murcer, who had been suffering from headaches and a lack of energy according to the New York Daily News, was diagnosed with a brain tumor on Christmas Eve, 2006, and underwent surgery on December 28, 2006, at the The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. On January 10, 2007, it was announced that the tumor was malignant.

Even he didn't know he was sick back in January.

Really surprised no one had Paul Newman.

His cancer was a big surprise to me. He was on my list of people to include next year if he made it that long.

I think maybe someone picked him last year? I was out of town this weekend, and when I saw the news on CNN, one of my first thoughts was "Someone's getting points for this." Yes, I know.

Yeah. 20 may be an excess, 15 seems to be better... it'd allow for more deaths during the year, plus it'd make the circle of picks wider, so next year it's not every Britisher picking Bobby Robson and every American picking whicheverthefuck US sports figure is being wheeled off his deathbed to pick up a lifetime achievement award this year.
