a bit of context to my one: guy in the middle is more or less my best friend, guy on the right I hardly see ever. it was taken at a birthday party for two mutual friends on the HMS Wellington, a boat-turned-party-venue moored somewhere along the Thames. as i said on my facebook photos page, i look like a jester whose joke-sheet has just blown out the window.

roxy and jordan had it far better off when in the grips of adolescence, for they are cutesy and wholesome, as opposed to some of us who couldn't shake off grease/spots/paunches/bad specs for love nor money.

I was 13 or 14 in this pic – in my most Mormoniest clothes (a brown corduroy overalls dress). Also totally obsessed with The Bell Jar. They were doing Halloween gore makeup at a church party. I asked the lady if she could give me slit wrists. She paused and said, "You have to promise not to do it. I had a friend who died that way." But she delivered.

Come home: "Mom! Dad! Can you take a picture of my Halloween makeup?!" Make sure not to smile in the photo. It made everyone at church and at home pretty uncomfortable. That lady did do an unsettlingly good job with the blood rivulets.

I just remembered doing a high school play which ended in this long convoluted scene which featured a lot of minor actors who weren't part of the main rehearsals. One of them screws up and says a line that's like 3 pages down in the script, then the other actors follow suit, essentially skipping like five minutes of the play. The problem is my character is supposed to be off stage at this point, I think he winds up getting poisoned or something (this was a black comedy), but I'm just standing there in the center, not knowing what to do. So after a minute there's a pause in the dialogue and I yell out "Aaah! I'm having a heart attack!!", stumble backwards and fall as far back towards the scenery as I can, so I can be out of everyone's way. This of course greatly confuses both the audience and everyone on stage, and as a result they botch the dialogue yet again, and the play sort of abruptly ends a couple minutes later. Man do I wish someone had filmed that. Funny enough everyone "blamed" me (blame in quotes because almost everyone thought it was hilarious) even though it was really some bit actor, not that I wanted to throw him under the bus. Anyway, there's my cool high school story no one asked for.
