I wanna get into Fantasy Football next season - teach me about it

With the season drawing to a close, it's time I start keeping my new year's resolution to learn about Fantasy Football. I've resisted it for a while for several reasons - foremost being that friends of mine who were always die hard, lifelong fans of specific teams have begun rooting for individual players, and plays occasionally at odds with their team's standings. This is troubling to me because football, it seems, isn't really football anymore.

Still - is there a resource, FAQ kinda thing for dummies? Anyone here that can give me a crash course? How the hell do drafts work? How do you keep up with this stuff?

There's a variety of different rules depending on the leagues but basically:

You have a league of X amount of people. You have a draft day where you go through the group picking a player. You have X amount of slots to fill on Offense (some leagues have D slots too). You generally pick more players than you have slots. And then you sub your players in and out throughout the weeks as your team is matched up against the other player's teams.

Each player is given a score (based on some stats formula I don't personally know) and your team is more-or-less the sum of your players scores. Also, different leagues have different trades rules for mid season.

Not too complicated. Of course... I think my team went 1-15 this year :(
(I had McNabb as my QB. ooops.)
