kids are in bed. i'm a little drunk. i've got lots of wine. maria crashed at, like, 8 pm. lame-o. i was gonna hang with her tonight. i don't have to work tomorrow. she said she wasn't "feeling well". hell, we've all had a low-level cold/flu for a month or more. that's no exuse!
should i drink and read. reading elizabeth jolley novel right now. that seems like a lame night.
should i watch a movie and drink? universal soldier is coming on starz soon. or i could try and follow the wire on hbo. but i don't feel like following.
should i drink and listen to music and post on ilx?
so bored.
should i drink and write a long blog entry? hahahaha. wow, that's the lamest idea ever.
???????
― scott seward, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 02:54 (eighteen years ago)
I've got the music going and I had something to drink and I'm posting here, so there's that route.
― Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 02:56 (eighteen years ago)
i might be feeling that. i don't know if i'm up for a movie. although i've got that this awesome peter sellers boxed-set that maria got me and i haven't even cracked it open yet!
now playing:

― rrrobyn, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 03:07 (eighteen years ago)
well you could watch the second half of the college football championship game...but unless things change soon it's not gonna be that entertaining...
― ryan, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 03:07 (eighteen years ago)
Dig through esp. weird/mysterious corners of your record collection, listen unobtrusively through headphones or whatever, and then report back to ILX people. (WWDD? in a nutshell).
― dell, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 03:12 (eighteen years ago)
WWdD, rather. And that's assuming I had voluminous crazy record collection, which I don't.
― dell, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 03:13 (eighteen years ago)
don't get so wasted that tomorrow is a write-off! maybe
― rrrobyn, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 03:13 (eighteen years ago)
yeah, i don't want to do that. i have a lot of writing to do, actually. and other stuff. so i can't sleep all day. i've got the whole week off!
― scott seward, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 03:15 (eighteen years ago)
my boss is going away on a cruise for 3 weeks and i knew if i wanted time off i needed to ask for it quick. so i got tues/wed/thurs/fri off. friday is my actual day off though. but i've got 3 days with kids in daycare, which means i can actually clean and do stuff, etc. do maria. oops, did i say that out loud?
― scott seward, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 03:17 (eighteen years ago)
Oh my!
(Cleaning stuff is highly underrated when it comes time off.)
― Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 03:18 (eighteen years ago)
I'M LISTENING TO THIS BEAUTIFUL ALBUM ON CAPITOL RECORDS BY CAROLE SIMPSON ENTITLED *ALL ABOUT CAROLE* AND THERE IS ABSOLUTELY *NOTHING* ABOUT HER OR THIS RECORD ON THE INTERWEB. how is that possible? nothing!

I say watch Universal Soldier! Although I have it on DVD, and can watch it anytime I want. This is not a good thing.
― Jeff Treppel, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 03:23 (eighteen years ago)
So is this the 406th or 407th thread you started about being bored and not knowing what to do, Scott?
― Jeff Treppel, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 03:28 (eighteen years ago)
this is like the best week to not have to be at work, i think, scott, tho esp if one has last week and week before off too and maybe until march
i have a lot of cleaning to do too (not 'um, cleaning' tho)
hey i moved my record player into the living room finally and am actually listening to records! i need a lot more records
― rrrobyn, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 03:29 (eighteen years ago)
for the moment i am listening to the ginny tiu revue. i don't know if this is a good or bad thing.

― scott seward, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 03:29 (eighteen years ago)
I am also bored and a little sad because one of my best friends "broke up" with me over email last night and I have no idea why. :-( So, I'm just laying around updating my I Tunes and feeling sorry for myself. Boo.

"So is this the 406th or 407th thread you started about being bored and not knowing what to do, Scott?"
no way! really? do i do it a lot? i start dumb random threads when i'm bored a lot, but am i usually asking for help of some kind?
― scott seward, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 03:31 (eighteen years ago)
The ginny tiu revue probably has a better plot than Universal Soldier!
― Jeff Treppel, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 03:32 (eighteen years ago)
I think it's all a cry for help, Scott.
i love dolph. dolph is the bomb.

― Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 03:34 (eighteen years ago)
I recall at least one "I'm bored and just want to talk about random stuff" thread. but I'm totally into yoga (believe it or not), so yeah, what Ned said.
― Jeff Treppel, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 03:35 (eighteen years ago)
i think my record collecting might start with a stint of looking for old yoga/chakra/astral-travel records

i wish i could tell you guys the story about how i had to "train" a 50-something barfly manic-depressive woman with anger management issues how to be a hospital custodian, but, man, you wouldn't believe a word of it. longest week EVER in 2007.
direct quote: "You can't contain me! I'm wild! I'm too wild! Oh, if you knew. Hahahahaha! I'm too wild to contain! People know about me!"
this was the first day on the job.
― scott seward, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 03:37 (eighteen years ago)
more please.

― Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 03:44 (eighteen years ago)
"Training" a manic depressive anyone to do anything, lol, wow. DOES NOT COMPUTE. One negotiates, and the next day, one negotiates all over again.
― Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 03:46 (eighteen years ago)
it's too painful. it's like a bad dream. she lasted 2 weeks and 2 hours. and now she wants her job back. oy. she says that she resigned under duress. maria's only memory of her:
"after college i got a job one summer at her father's restaurant and she she got so mad one night that she started screaming and then she threw a fork at me. i never went back."
― scott seward, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 03:46 (eighteen years ago)
scott you should spend tonight bumping old scott seward threads.
― gr8080, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 03:48 (eighteen years ago)
she was late every day of her first week. every time she was late i kept hoping that she wouldn't show up. but then she would. with that face on. that mug. so miserable. she would just shrug her shoulders and mutter, "so, what, what do we do?" oh, she hated every minute of it. which made it all the scarier when she was pushing the laundry cart thru acute care singing in s sickly childish sing-song voice: "oh, i love my job, oh, i loooove my job." over and over until i thought i was in an amateur production of the Snake Pit.

― scott seward, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 04:18 (eighteen years ago)
first side of trick of the tail is so sweet. mellotron up the ass!
now i'm listening to jackson 5 state of shock 12 inch though. which rocks differently.
― scott seward, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 04:20 (eighteen years ago)
I have magical green cans of Beck's in my fridge, but I have sunk so low that I don't even bother to pour them into a glass, and furthermore they + me are encouraging all of my (presumably) worst instincts.
And all the while, I've been listening to "Semi-Charmed Life" on repeat, so pretty much all hope is lost.
― dell, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 04:22 (eighteen years ago)
Nice segue, scott!
― dell, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 04:23 (eighteen years ago)
maybe i should start putting beer in glasses again
― rrrobyn, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 04:25 (eighteen years ago)
again
my logic is that beer bottles are made of glass
― rrrobyn, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 04:26 (eighteen years ago)
ok pints are obv usually better but a dif thing and do not happen at home
― rrrobyn, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 04:28 (eighteen years ago)
stupid tv show killed some of brain/eyes :/
― rrrobyn, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 04:29 (eighteen years ago)
It's weird; if I buy beer in bottles, I always wanna pour it in glasses. It's so pretty. Variations on amber, gold, etc.
For some reason, though, if I buy it in a can, I just wanna chlug it out of the can. I think it's out of poverty mentality of seeing how little beer is left in the can; visual cues for me being more reliable/less heartbreaking than ear posed next to shaken can or something...
― dell, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 04:30 (eighteen years ago)
"maybe i should start putting beer in glasses again"
i drink beer a lot faster when it's in a glass. just a thought...
― scott seward, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 04:31 (eighteen years ago)
Yeah, maybe it's some perverse reversed-privilege thing of "hey, I'm at home, drinking out of a can, woo-hoo". Tiny victories.
― dell, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 04:32 (eighteen years ago)
My dad has this thing about drinking beer in bottles - he hates it esp when it's a girl drinking beer out of a bottle(?!). Even though I think it's ridiculous, I always pour them into a glass.
― ENBB, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 04:32 (eighteen years ago)

i think pint glasses are made to be heavy to slow down drinking speed beer out of a normal glass = danger for sure - this is what always happens with pitcher situations! this is small pleasure thread related but it is always nice in a small way when you are drinking beer from a bottle and talking to people and then lift bottle to drink and see that it's at least half-way full. and then you drink it.

hahahaha, no don't go! you live in philly? does everyone live in philly these days? well, go, if you are a billy milano fan.
― scott seward, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 04:39 (eighteen years ago)
ah, i finally got bo jackson's charades. but i'm not in the mood!
― scott seward, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 04:40 (eighteen years ago)
Yeah, or, the looking into the fridge to discover that there are "surprise beers".
OMg, I have attained semi-alcoholic status as of late. Wow.
Pitcher situations start out seeming like an epic film is about to unfold, but they turn out to flash by in the blink of a sitcom-length
― dell, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 04:41 (eighteen years ago)
scott you should go on tour anyway as you bring maria, the kids, show up 'hey guys i'm here'
― rrrobyn, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 04:41 (eighteen years ago)
i'm listening to a guy called gerald voodoo ray 12 inch but it's the warlock 12 inch and i'm in the mood to hear the rham! EP and i don't know where my copy is. still sounds fine though.
― scott seward, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 04:45 (eighteen years ago)
holy shit, scott, y'mean billy milano, the m.o.d. guy??? wha?
yeah, I live in philly, but I don't know of many other folks who live here. I feel like I'm in exile, quite honestly.
So, presumably you're playing music w/him? I would totally go just to say 'hi' to you based on the fact that you are ilxor dude who took the effort to write a "go kart mozart" review!!
― dell, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 04:47 (eighteen years ago)
My all purpose suggestion.
― Oilyrags, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 04:49 (eighteen years ago)
i should go on tour. maybe someday.
did i ever tell you my ultimate hipster idea? it's not in great taste. but it would be ultra-hip vice magazine material. travel to different cities across the country and find homeless people in every city. pay them money to come to the club. hand them instruments and have them jam. a homeless free jazz orchestra. film everything. hit sundance. make a name. do something dumb on cable with newfound fame. end up wallowing in L.A. and taking meetings. do coke. lose your shit. head home. get job at waffle restaurant. plan book on rise and fall. never write it.
it's perfect, really!
(anyone here, feel free to steal this.)
― scott seward, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 04:50 (eighteen years ago)
i'm not playing music with billy milano! those are just MOD tour dates. anthony miccio lives in philly. there are other ilxors who live in philly. i lived in philly for, um, a zillion years. i moved there in 1988. i moved to this island in 2003? i can't remember.

― scott seward, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 04:57 (eighteen years ago)

Back to west coast or bust.
― dell, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 04:58 (eighteen years ago)
"The Jumping Turtle". That describes me rather aptly.
― dell, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 04:59 (eighteen years ago)
I am kind of glad now that I never discovered that these 2000s-era detective shows were so fascinating until recently because this way I almost never have to be disappointed by a rerun. an endless fountain of new crime scenes, almost every night.
also this time I did the burgers up with bacon chopped into little bits and mixed in with the beef + worcestershire + pepper + honey + a little sriracha sauce
not bad!!!
― El Tomboto, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 05:03 (eighteen years ago)

Sriracha sauce, Skot, is of the gods. I thank my existence for it every day, practically.
― Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 05:20 (eighteen years ago)
I remember first encountering it out here at restaurants over a decade back. I knew even then it was the way forward.
― Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 05:21 (eighteen years ago)
I was inspired to invest in a heavy bottle of sriracha recently, but don't you find that it's kind of over-powering? I mean, I'd like something to cover up my more mediocre cooking attempts, but for everyday use...?
― dell, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 05:23 (eighteen years ago)
i've probably had it in restaurants - and dell if you are in philly then you have to go to Vietnam cuz it's so amazing - but never bought any to use as a condiment.
― scott seward, Tuesday, 8 January 2008 05:31 (eighteen years ago)
wow, thanks you guys. i had a lovely evening. listening to new order confusion 12 inch right now. gonna go though. i'm gonna get up with the kids and take them to daycare. bright and early! i am gonna ignore the unopened bottle of wine. cheers!
