Cheap ass box wine advice thread

I'm looking for something inexpensive that I can put in my fridge for non beer nights that doesn't taste like paint. Suggestions?

If no one helps me, I will be forced to choose Franzia out of familiarity.

Do you guys get any of the nice Aussie stuff imported? Yalumba is pretty drinkable in a box.

I think Franzia is the stuff I got that made me wildly ill three hours after I went to sleep.

I say just get a couple bottles of good cheap wine.

well, id say delicato shiraz is at least drinkable as table wine. franzia, f no.

actually, in places where target has wine, they have a "premium" box wine that is not too bad.

sadly, here in the birthplace of Target, they are unable to sell wine.

Bottles would remove the on tap vibe and add a touch of class that undermines the whole project.

Cardy chardy is the fuel of me!

Yalumba and Banrock Station, both drinkable enough. Not great, but for $12 for 2 litres who's complaining.

Argentine Malbec is my favorite varietal for it plum + spice + oak taste at a discount to similar quality cabernet. Pairs well with spicy food, too. In the U.S., Black Box sells high end boxed wine, and their 3L malbec for $18 is a good deal.

The biggest part I have it is the SPIGGGOTTT because if I put it up in a high up cupboard I then have "wine from the sky" aka "stretch wine" available at hand.

Black Box wine works for me.

I got this from Trader Joe's today and even as a no-smell with unrefined wine tastes, I can't recommend it.

$10 for a box makes it cheaper than Charles SHaw tho

– liked Black Box (iirc I had the Shiraz), $22 I think
– liked Target's wine cube (Cabernet Sauvignon), $16 – probably best price/wine goodness ratio so far
– I guess don't buy a box wine where the wine is called by its color only

Sanpaku makes that malbec sound pretty yummy.

two years pass...

honestly, we've converted to an all box wine household. bota, black box, some other kinda are totally good now and i like the convenience of boxes a lot more than bottles.
