d uane, Monday, 11 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

no wait that was last week. hey that means this week is still WIDE OPEN!

, Monday, 11 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Being told I was a good writer was pretty darn cool. :-)

Ned Raggett, Monday, 11 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I... will not comment.

Brian MacDonald, Monday, 11 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

you are intereting and insightful.

anthony, Monday, 11 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I dunno, Brian, if someone said that to me I'd worry.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 11 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

my mum said she liked my writing

Queen G, Monday, 11 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Someone told me he thought I was beautiful. Have yet to figure out exactly what his motives were but I'll keep you posted.

Pyth, Monday, 11 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ned, I noticed today somebody used your (entire) review of Hood's "Structured Disasters" in an eBay auction of said record. That's sort of a compliment.

electric sound of jim, Monday, 11 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The AMG has been weirdly useful that way.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 11 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

This girl (that someone else I know has a crush on) said my dress was pretty and a good fit.

maryann, Monday, 11 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It was a good compliment because I don't know her, she's a librarian, and I had to go back up to her to get more books out nearly straight away afterwards, and she was glaring at me like 'fuck off!' so she must have been embarrassed that she said it, and therefore meant it. Unlike all the other untrustworthy complimenters I ran into this week.

maryann, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It's way too personal, but it was the nicest thing anyone had ever said to me.

Ally, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"you dance like a pokemon"

phil, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

That I've a knack for survival. (Isn't hearts and flowers, but still...;>)

Nichole Graham, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

soneone just said i looked like Dorothy out of the Wizard of Oz. is this a compliment? (i'm not even wearing my red shoes DAMMIT)

katie, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I didn't get any........fish fish. I think last week someone said I should do more work cos if I amn't in college it mightn't be as much fun. but that was crazytalk.

Ronan, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

A friend came over to me in a bar and said 'hey I like the fruity barmaid look Emma'. I took offence at this as I was trying VERY HARD to look classy but obviously failing so he attempted to make amends by changing it to 'lusty wench'. I am still not sure how good a compliment this is.

Emma, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah but at least you got the fun of watching him try and dig his way out of it. Did you? I love when someone says something intending to be nice and kind of messes up, and then they try and flip it round.

Ronan, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"JEL you are a wise warrior"...admitedly it was in Golden Sun, but I'm living the life of a psy-energy weilding adventurer! Wahoo!

jel --, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Sadly he seemed to be highly amused by my taking offence at his remark which I do think he genuinely intended to be complimentary. Maybe some girls would consider 'fruity barmaid' to be a compliment rather than akin to saying 'alright luv you look like Shelly from Correr / Sharon from Stenders tonight'.

Emma, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

That my German pronounciation is good considering I've never been to Germany.

Damian, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I got told I was an excellent tactician, unfortunately, like Jel it was my game boy advance that told me this while playing Advance war (which is ace btw)

chris, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

bastards with your money for games, I've been playing Mario Kart to death, i'm scarily good now and it's not even fun.

Ronan, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I only bought it last week and got mario kart and advance war. Next purchases will be golden sun, Tony Hawks 3 (if only because you can be Bam Margera from Jackass) and a conversion of wings that used to be on the Amiga. Those last two are out at the end of the month hopefully.

chris, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It's Zelda I want to come out. GS is meant to be good though. Mario Kart was always better two player, I must bully a mate into buying one.

Ronan, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I read a review of Tony Hawks 3 and it claimed that it was the best game that would ever come out for the GBA!

chris, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Golden Sun is great! Advance Wars is cool. Breath of Fire is okay, but I've sorta given up on it for the time being (or until I can find a walk-trough on the net!)...I'm thinking about getting "pocket music", it might be useful for making lo-tech toy noise.

jel --, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I got called an X-Box godess on Sunday. I've just sat and thought for 15 minutes to see if I could think of a non-computer game compliament, but my train of thought would not be de-railed.

Anna, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

My friend said she hated the idea of me wanting to learn piano, because she is convinced I will be better than her. This despite the fact that she in in a professional band.

Ally C, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Someone whose writing I like emailed me and said how much he liked FT which is always a nice thing to happen. (Assuming "how much" = "some" anyway).

Tom, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Someone I work with said I was not like the other English women, that I was nicer and quieter. I am not sure how to take this. She meant well.

alix, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I do not think I have received a compliment this week, but then my memory has been all fluky lately.

Nicole, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I got told I had a big heart. (Makes a change from 'gob' I supose).

Sarah, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

A stranger approached me yesterday to say that he had been walking beind me for 3 blocks and liked my walking style because I looked "strong". Thank god he didn't say "masculine".

marianna, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I got told I had a big heart.

As long as it's not a doctor telling you that...

Nicole, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Is a big heart bad, medically?

I just got told I was a wonderful person, but it was in a work email and prob. insincere.

N>, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It was insincere.

Anyway, thought I had read that an enlarged heart was a bad thing, medically speaking. Could have been mistaken though.

Nicole, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Wahey! I was right.

Nicole, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ah but that's specifically an enlarged heart. If it's just naturally big, isn't that OK?

N>, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't know, a naturally huge heart sounds kind of dangerous too.

Nicole, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

what was that about being bam margeras, chris?

nickie, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

well Nickie, in Tony Hawks 3 for the GBA (and for the PS2 to the best of my knowledge) you can play as one of 10 or so skaters, one of which is the mighty Bam. Very cool.

chris, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Since it's only Tuedsay, none this week, but over the weekend I was told I have nice eyes and a nice smile (by two different people).

Sean, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Not much this week. I fixed our front door (it's meant to slam closed, but it was just staying on the catch) and was told I was "resourceful".

Graham, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"Geeta, you're one of the best people on our production team."

"Hey, do you think you can work 70 hours this week instead of 50? For no extra pay? By the way, you have no choice in this matter."

fuXors

geeta, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"you're the best thing since rollerskates". thanx petra!

di, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i was told last night that i got a great ass. a white boy with a nice ass was the exactly phrasing.

Brock K., Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I made one of my friends watch Velvet Goldmine last weekend and today he looked at me oddly and told me I looked like one of the groupies. That made my decade.

Maria, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ok, a coworker told me I look nice today, so I'm adding that.

Sean, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"i love it when you come in my mouth"

omg@wtf.lol, Wednesday, 8 June 2005 12:23 (twenty years ago)

I was complimented on my pronounciation of a wacky Croatian name.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 10 June 2005 14:43 (twenty years ago)

Being told I'm one of the two hottest boys Masonic Kate knows.

BARMS, Friday, 10 June 2005 14:44 (twenty years ago)

"You're the best dancer in the room!" (by a stranger at the Jr. Boys show)

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 10 June 2005 14:44 (twenty years ago)

A colleague told me I was very helpful today as well. Then he shook my hand and left the company.

robster (robster), Friday, 10 June 2005 14:46 (twenty years ago)

Sadly enough, probably when two different people "excelsiored" me yesterday. It's been a slow and unattractive week.

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 10 June 2005 14:49 (twenty years ago)

"Je4nne's the best." From my boss.

Je4nne ƒur¥ (Je4nne Fury), Friday, 10 June 2005 14:51 (twenty years ago)

"you make me feel so uneducated" THPBBBT

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 16 January 2008 22:29 (seventeen years ago)

I wish people didn't make compliments that effaced themselves in the process. "You are very smart!" or its equivalent would have been nice for both parties.

Keepin' it positive in the oh-eight!

Abbott, Wednesday, 16 January 2008 22:32 (seventeen years ago)

none this week

but a co-worker said i was "very fast" two weeks ago

gbx, Wednesday, 16 January 2008 22:51 (seventeen years ago)

i just got called 'gung ho' but i'm not sure how it was meant.

That one guy that hit it and quit it, Thursday, 17 January 2008 12:15 (seventeen years ago)

if anyone were to feel like complimenting me it would most certainly qualify as the 'best' of the week. open to offers.

i would also take gung ho as a compliment regardless of whether or not it was meant as such.

Upt0eleven, Thursday, 17 January 2008 12:18 (seventeen years ago)

upt0eleven you are so gung ho today

ken c, Thursday, 17 January 2008 12:28 (seventeen years ago)

"You're WAY better than that guy". From a friend following his first meeting with my ex's new boyfriend.

j-rock, Thursday, 17 January 2008 12:28 (seventeen years ago)

"we could do homework together"

I'm such a lamer.

Bahahaha my little SISTER just emailed me to tell me I have "a very pretty name." !!! She's known it for a while, I'm pretty sure.

Abbott, Thursday, 17 January 2008 20:02 (seventeen years ago)

"you smell pretty" from a coworker

sunny successor, Thursday, 17 January 2008 20:21 (seventeen years ago)

to which i replied the same way i reply to all compliments "WAHTS??!?!" in a are-you-motherfuxxing-crazy??? tone

sunny successor, Thursday, 17 January 2008 20:25 (seventeen years ago)

only compliments i ever get are that i smell good and that i have cool glasses.

homosexual II, Thursday, 17 January 2008 20:25 (seventeen years ago)

Not five minutes ago up at the front desk -- grad student who's been around for a while but is back after a bit to update her records to me: "You've lost so much weight!" Me = *BLUSH*

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 17 January 2008 21:17 (seventeen years ago)

I never knew how to respond to that when I lost a whole bunch of weight (out of being too depressed to eat). It kind of upset me bcz only then were people like "hey honey *wolf whistle*," a weird combination of "how awkward I do not know how to react to being hit on and this person is not particularly swell" and "wtf okay now people are hitting on me." I know this sounds like whining but what I am trying to say is: I am weird.

Abbott, Thursday, 17 January 2008 21:23 (seventeen years ago)

i felt very awkward when people complimented me on weight loss about a year and a half ago. i dropped 10lbs in 6-7 weeks, and I had to bite my tongue to keep from replying, "thanks! it's great - i've been really ill!"

lauren, Thursday, 17 January 2008 21:33 (seventeen years ago)

Are compliments from Ariane counted?

moley, Thursday, 17 January 2008 21:42 (seventeen years ago)
