I'm at home listening to the music that I wanna listen to, and drinking whatever's in my fridge. Granted, I'm missing out on the scenery of other people, plus interactions w/them, but as much as I wanna go out, I feel that this is gonna be one of those nights when I get to my destination and then ask myself why I'm spending money being out when I was having perfectly good times at home w/dj dell.
Discuss.

dell, no one wants to hear your narcissistic shit.
yeah, i know, but waaah, i'm lonely...i crave attention.
that's why you should go out, dumbass!
oh, ok. yer right. lock thread, then!
― dell, Saturday, 12 January 2008 03:55 (eighteen years ago)
hoely shit, you guys, so i had such a weird night
i went to "the club", which happened to have been the ultimate destination referenced in my sad poll from last wk, which ilx search function doesn't seem to wanna dredge up at the moment
anyhow, my experience there tonight amounted to "hey, you dj's are not playing transcendent-enough music to overcome me battling elbros and previously-coupled couples making out and crowding the insanely crowded dancefloor (this was no ordinary "no parking on the dancefloor situation; even given the crowdedness of the venue, whatever magic powers i might have been able to summon were worthless given this particular crowd...)
so, afterwards, i went to what is technically my local to sulk, and, wow, just, wow, this place was completely insane in a way that i can't even begin to do justice to. suffice it to say that it was the most bizarre chunk of humanity that i've ever witnessed gathered under a roof at one time and place. to give one example, some weird fifty-something guy, whom i've previously diagnosed (in my layman's DSM IV way as having npd, and who self-identifies as "the colonel"), was making out the entire time with some twenty-something, who, as far as i could tell was not a professional escort. I am leaving out all of the other fucked-up shit, which plain blew my mind.
i don't even know what to say at this point. some of my synapses will never be the same. humanity?
i don't even know
i just don't know.
― dell, Saturday, 12 January 2008 07:58 (eighteen years ago)
I know that I have not been relating to reality properly as of late, but I don't even know what to think now. This experience went far beyond lol, friday night, people wanna get drunked
― dell, Saturday, 12 January 2008 08:01 (eighteen years ago)
overheard at the bar, "yeah i like the cougars who are non-aggresive
why did i incarnate on this planet? so wrong
tomorrow I am shoving myself in a ups box and getting the fuck out of here
― dell, Saturday, 12 January 2008 08:06 (eighteen years ago)
hey, dell
― chaki, Saturday, 12 January 2008 08:07 (eighteen years ago)
hi chaki
do you like "the attic"?
go to the attic for my sake, and drink hoegaarden. i'm as serious as cancer
― dell, Saturday, 12 January 2008 08:08 (eighteen years ago)
the attic in the mission?
― chaki, Saturday, 12 January 2008 08:10 (eighteen years ago)
yeah, i feel like that was the last time my life made sense.
the attic.
― dell, Saturday, 12 January 2008 08:11 (eighteen years ago)
no i dont go there.
― chaki, Saturday, 12 January 2008 08:12 (eighteen years ago)
going out was super anti-climactic for me tonight. friends were all super drunk and wanting to dance to dumb songs and i had to muster up every ounce of will to even lurch around on the dance floor.
― homosexual II, Saturday, 12 January 2008 08:13 (eighteen years ago)
chaki, it's been a year since i've been there, but you should totally play records there
i dunno, i really like(d) that place
― dell, Saturday, 12 January 2008 08:16 (eighteen years ago)
it was my default, everything-makes-sense now place
― dell, Saturday, 12 January 2008 08:17 (eighteen years ago)

yeah, there seemed to be a weird conspiracy (dramatic word, but whatever) of people who spinned mediocre shit at different clubs, for a living. fuck those people.
― dell, Saturday, 12 January 2008 08:19 (eighteen years ago)
pleh, i am house-sitting tonight. it is like going out and staying in at the same time.
― remy bean, Saturday, 12 January 2008 08:21 (eighteen years ago)
H-II, hi to you, cool cat
i was contending with north face gortex tonight (nothing against north face products, but you prob'ly get the idea)
― dell, Saturday, 12 January 2008 08:22 (eighteen years ago)
house is gorgeous, overlooks the whole city. four floor-to-ceiling plate-glass windows at a high elevation.

― homosexual II, Saturday, 12 January 2008 08:33 (eighteen years ago)
h-II, I think I have been there before, as far as forcing (or not) yourself to lurch to shitty songs
remy, what's the deal w/your health, are you okay?
gr8080, you live in hawaii, i hate? envy you
― dell, Saturday, 12 January 2008 08:37 (eighteen years ago)
chaki, you should totally play records on a regular basis somewhere. don't deny the people.
― dell, Saturday, 12 January 2008 08:42 (eighteen years ago)
drink hoegaarden
That's like wishing food poisining to someone. Srsly, Hoegaarden is not that great. I don't know why it's hailed as such a great drink (outside our country).
That view is so awesome.
I wish I could go out but, alas, the baby would not appreciate me being away for more than three hours. THat's actually okay. Now I have a valid excuse to stay in.
What's NPD? The only (wrong) thing I could come up with: Natal Post Depression.
― stevienixed, Saturday, 12 January 2008 08:52 (eighteen years ago)
I don't even know how to respond to that. agh
NPD=Narcissistic Personality Disorder.
The guy in question had previously evidenced # has a grandiose sense of self-importance # is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love"
Maybe he was just on a manic phase at the time or something, but whatever the case, at the time it was enough to flag my armchair psych diagnostic criteria, and then some
― dell, Saturday, 12 January 2008 09:02 (eighteen years ago)
hi dell hawaii gets really boring and depressing just like any other place. i cant even go out tonight cause i have to be at work hella early tomorrow.
― gr8080, Saturday, 12 January 2008 09:22 (eighteen years ago)
yr mom is anticlimactic
― Jordan, Saturday, 12 January 2008 09:41 (eighteen years ago)
hey dell, your first post in this thread is so otm for me right now. going out is great, as long as you can look at other people as an inspiration or at worst as a diversion. i'm a terrible talker and i usually go out alone, but just the random encounters i get when i'm in a roomful of people are enough to help me latch onto better social skills and to get me closer to being a part of the human race ;iafsdiwdgpqhoiadgpwhoiq
― strgn, Saturday, 12 January 2008 10:22 (eighteen years ago)
dell otm in this thread
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 12 January 2008 10:26 (eighteen years ago)
i do this a lot when i'm home and my mom always asks me if i'm depressed
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 12 January 2008 10:27 (eighteen years ago)
We were gonna go out clubbing later tonight (its saturday night here) but after coming back from a friend's housewarming I think we've decided to just stay home and chill listening to music. Its a lovely still night and blessedly less hot than it has been all week.
― Trayce, Saturday, 12 January 2008 11:05 (eighteen years ago)
oh man those nights are the best. there really isn't any kind of weather here, but i know from experience that whenever the temperature or sky changes, hanging out indoors w/ someone you like is always the best option. not knowing anybody in the place you've moved to always breeds desperation, and then the desperation feeds back on itself.
― strgn, Saturday, 12 January 2008 12:09 (eighteen years ago)
i just think it's all about what you feel is the best use of your time. if you feel like going out is a waste o time, fuck it! i have made the resolution this year, tho, to not be a lazy pants and actually see all the people i wanna see, even if i'm all "ooohhh but i'm tiiired."
― Surmounter, Saturday, 12 January 2008 13:02 (eighteen years ago)
Go out while you can. Once you have kids, YOU CAN'T.
― Alex in NYC, Saturday, 12 January 2008 18:54 (eighteen years ago)
I understand. I just tend to complain about wherever I happen to be at a given moment.
― dell, Saturday, 12 January 2008 19:02 (eighteen years ago)
Even when going out is anticlimactic, it still beats staying in. Also, there are another five nights of the week when you can sit at home!
― Matt DC, Saturday, 12 January 2008 19:08 (eighteen years ago)
Alex in NYC so OTM it hurts a LOT
― Sara R-C, Saturday, 12 January 2008 19:09 (eighteen years ago)
hi dell!
― jhøshea, Saturday, 12 January 2008 19:11 (eighteen years ago)
hey hey hey! it's mr albert!
― dell, Saturday, 12 January 2008 19:13 (eighteen years ago)
Having kids nicely coincided with the loss of my drive to go out. OTOH, I miss it sometimes. Generally, I get enough time in bars/clubs from playing shows every other month.
But yeah - Alex OTM.
― schwantz, Saturday, 12 January 2008 19:18 (eighteen years ago)

― dell, Saturday, 12 January 2008 20:00 (eighteen years ago)
We should really look at all the world's people spinning in graves as a viable way to power turbines & have a clean, if mouldering, renewable energy resource.

Genius.
also Corpses are no longer decaying in many German cemeteries. Instead, the deceased become waxen, an uncanny process that has become so rampant it can no longer be ignored.

you guys, so i had such a weird night
Ha, I just remembered one of the other funny things from last night. Upon returning home and stepping into my building, I noticed a flat cardboard pkg stuck behind a bigger box that has been sitting unclaimed for days. Imagining for a moment that a friend had mailed me a record or something, I picked up the flat cardboard pkg and was surprised to see lace thong underwear staring at me from behind a plastic covering. WTF? What kind of sub-Frederick's of Hollywood outfit ships lingerie in a see-through package? So weird. Anyhow, I dropped it like a hot potato and ran upstairs. This evening the underwear package is still sitting there.
― dell, Sunday, 13 January 2008 05:25 (eighteen years ago)
Also from last night, this guy (who in my drunkeness I gave my number to for some reason) left the following msg on my phone:
"HEEEEY dell, it's your friend
x
such-and-such a place the other night
such-and-such a club night
― dell, Sunday, 13 January 2008 05:49 (eighteen years ago)
I went out and it was lots of fun, except someone took my ID from my coat pocket, so that was an anti-climactic end to the night. I hope it was worth it for the one fucking euro they got.
