Dr Morbius, Monday, 1 December 2008 16:17 (seventeen years ago)

so minimal research tells me John Cleese plays the Sam Jaffe scientist and that there is no Gort or "Klaatu barada nikto."

Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 3 December 2008 16:00 (seventeen years ago)

ie WHY'D THEY BUY THE TITLE

I can't wait to see this, mostly because they made it at SFU when i was still there in the spring. there was a helicopter and everything! they turned all the SFU maps into Fort Linwood maps for a few weeks, which was really exciting for everyone.

Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 10 December 2008 17:00 (seventeen years ago)

he's the least of this movie's problems, to be honest.

s1ocki, Wednesday, 10 December 2008 17:01 (seventeen years ago)

He does seem effectively creepy in the trailers/the breakout scene that the showed on TV (poor interrogator dude).

Q: Why was the mushroom so popular? A: He was a fungi (latebloomer), Sunday, 14 December 2008 03:19 (seventeen years ago)

the only thing it's got going for it are a couple interesting hard sci-fi concepts and the classic gort design.

Q: Why was the mushroom so popular? A: He was a fungi (latebloomer), Sunday, 14 December 2008 03:20 (seventeen years ago)

worst kid character ever. seriously, fuck a movie that inadvertantly creates sympathy for child murder.

Q: Why was the mushroom so popular? A: He was a fungi (latebloomer), Sunday, 14 December 2008 03:21 (seventeen years ago)

maybe it works because keanu's klaatu is such a ridiculous moron that it would take that kind of arsey dickwad of a kid to make him see humanity?

Gukbe, Sunday, 14 December 2008 03:35 (seventeen years ago)

if that had been the actual intent of the film, then lol

moonship journey to baja, Thursday, 18 December 2008 19:32 (seventeen years ago)

How did Keanu become the go-to actor for Hollywood SF? Between him, Will Smith and Tom Cruise they've pretty much got the genre completely fucked.

James Morrison, Thursday, 18 December 2008 22:18 (seventeen years ago)

Okay, it's meant to be all eco-friendly...BUT...there is a TV on standby when they go to visit Professor John Cleese. This is unforgivable, Klattu shoulda torched his house. They should've got Jim Carrey instead of Keanu.

Autobot Lover (jel --), Thursday, 18 December 2008 22:24 (seventeen years ago)

It was okay up to the point where Keanu escaped.

smashing aspirant (milo z), Monday, 23 November 2009 06:06 (sixteen years ago)

hated the kid character in this so much.

also lol for setting the scene in which the alien explains to keanu his love of humanity in a mcdonald's

fel (latebloomer), Monday, 23 November 2009 07:39 (sixteen years ago)

hated the kid character in this so much.

seriously, having jaden smith screaming about how dad would have killed the alien kind of undercuts any spielbergian wonder. not surprising the director previously had done exorcism of emily rose - dude can apparently suck the fun out of everything.

da croupier, Monday, 23 November 2009 16:03 (sixteen years ago)

i literally could not believe the keanu/john cleese math proof scene
