On Sunday my brother, his girlfriend, and JR (who is also my brother but doesn't really get referred to as such) came round for Sunday Lunch.

I cooked;
roast potatos roast parsnips (roasted together in olive oil and butter with garlic, rosemary, sea salt and black pepper) roast lamb (with fresh garlic and rosemary) cauliflower cheese (with a hint of celeriac) red cabbage (braised with red onion and then boiled with balsamic vinegar and water) some nut roast vege thing for Emma and my brother's girlfriend vegetarian gravy (I boiled two onions and a bit of parsnip and celeriac, liquidised them, added starch potato water, vege gravy granules and my secret ingredient) Aunt Bessie's yorkshire puddings (my oven's not big en ough to do real ones as well; these take four minutes and go in while I carve the meat) home made mint sauce
Would you have liked to have come for Sunday Lunch with us?

Roast lamb is king of roasts. Would have liked to see some garden peas alongside that though, so I'm only giving this 8/10.

Very very nicely cooked lamb there, just about the perfect colour for roast lamb.
For shame on the yorkshires though. My tip is to under do the meat a little, get it out the oven half an hour before serving, cover it, the temperature will even out in the meat. whack the oven on full and use that half hour for pudding rising and gravy making.

made a chicken roast yesterday, only difference to normal was i roasted all the veg. very nice. no pics though cos NOM

Aunt Bessie's rule. I always use them. I love "Sunday Lunch" and have it on different days every week. Usually chicken, roasties, one or more of parsnips/sweet potato/swede, carrots, yorkshire, stuffing!

Roasting is fine for duck especially with honey and thyme but it is better to roast individual legs or breasts (supported on a rack of carrots) than the whole bird. It is also good to fry the skin side briefly on a hot dry frying pan to render out some of the fat.
