trailer

horror-comedy-thing: girl is tryna be pure and remain abstinent etc, but is having trouble resisting the advances of her "sexy stepbrother" (?!). Then in turns out there are teeths in her vajay and lotsa dudes get their junk munched on or something.

Filmed in Austin.

Oddly, the guys I know are morbidly curious to see it and the girls I know are like "ew no no no." Can anyone explain this dynamic?

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 00:30 (eighteen years ago)

ew no no no

"Oddly, the guys I know are morbidly curious to see it and the girls I know are like "ew no no no." Can anyone explain this dynamic?"

Most horror fans are guys. Not exactly a mystery.

Alex in SF, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 00:58 (eighteen years ago)

i was bugging out about this on another thread! director's a gay dude, btw

impudent harlot, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 01:03 (eighteen years ago)

Basically way more men than women have seen I Spit On Your Grave whatever the "message" so why should a film about vagina dentata be any different.

Alex in SF, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 01:04 (eighteen years ago)

"director's a gay dude, btw"

Best punchline ever!

Alex in SF, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 01:04 (eighteen years ago)

this movie appeals to the wide spectrum of pervertsdudes

wanko ergo sum, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 01:06 (eighteen years ago)

I'm wondering if anybody will actually bother to consider the implications of a gay man making a film where vaginas are literally potentially deadly. :/

Also, the other poster for this is a total rip-off of the Slither poster. and the tagline is cringeworthy ("every rose has its thorns"). will probably still see it.

jessie monster, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 01:15 (eighteen years ago)

oh also pullquote comparing it to fatal attraction: fuck you.

jessie monster, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 01:18 (eighteen years ago)

"Also, the other poster for this is a total rip-off of the Slither poster."

Uh you don't think the poster above is a total rip off of Knocked Up?

"I'm wondering if anybody will actually bother to consider the implications of a gay man making a film where vaginas are literally potentially deadly. :/"

Uh the implications? Like that he really seriously thinks pussies have teeth?

Alex in SF, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 01:20 (eighteen years ago)

Didn't see the Knocked Up poster in question?

and, I dunno, don't you think it could possibly be a little misogynist?

jessie monster, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 01:22 (eighteen years ago)

Haha no I don't. Not sure why if it was it would be less misogynist if it had been directed by a straight guy anyway!

Alex in SF, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 01:23 (eighteen years ago)

I just mean a lot of armchair intellectuals could get caught up in some big discussion about "IS HE AFRAID OF VAGINAS? GAY CONSPIRACY AGAINST WOMEN???" silly stuff, but maybe the producers can use that to their advantage. /cynic

no, it'd still be misogynist.

jessie monster, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 01:25 (eighteen years ago)

jessie monster, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 01:32 (eighteen years ago)

the table is the table, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 01:40 (eighteen years ago)

plot synopsis:

Set in the seedy parts of New York City, Killer Condom follows gay detective Luigi Mackeroni (Samel), who has been hired to investigate a series of bizarre attacks at the Hotel Quickie in which their male guests have all had their penises mysteriously bitten off. While at the crime scene, he enlists the services of a beautiful young gigolo named Bill and invites him up to the crime room. Before the two men engage in intercourse, a carnivorous, living condom interrupts them and bites Mackeroni's testicle off.
Now on a personal vendetta, Mackeroni begins his lone quests to not only bring a stop to the rash of condom attacks, but also face his true feelings towards Bill the gigolo. Soon, the detective learns that the pernicious prophylactics are actually genetically-engineered creatures, part of a vast conspiracy of conservatives bent on ridding the world of sexual deviants.

did anyone see this

gr8080, Thursday, 24 July 2008 02:10 (seventeen years ago)

nah

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Thursday, 24 July 2008 02:11 (seventeen years ago)

yes - it was a really good horror movie. if you like horror movies (they are pretty much the only kinda movies I give a shit about other than documentaries) then you will probably dig this, unless you have a very high gore demand - this is sparingly gory. if horror movies don't do anything for you generally this isn't probably gonna be yr exceptional-case deal. but it was well-acted, nicely scripted, the twists are all nicely timed...I loved pretty much every minute of this movie.

I'm pretty sure there was another thread where we talked about this.

J0hn D., Thursday, 24 July 2008 02:14 (seventeen years ago)

roxy linked to another one upthread

gr8080, Thursday, 24 July 2008 02:15 (seventeen years ago)

the premise of this movie has been in existence in tons of primeval culture myths, weird.

oscar, Thursday, 24 July 2008 02:27 (seventeen years ago)

uh i think that's kind of the point!

someone at feministing thought it was awesome

goole, Thursday, 24 July 2008 02:31 (seventeen years ago)

the movie addresses those very primeval myths directly, that was the one part where I was like "yeah ok we know"

J0hn D., Thursday, 24 July 2008 02:47 (seventeen years ago)

srsly tho if you like horror movies in the Evil Dead 2/smart-funny mode this shit is essential

J0hn D., Thursday, 24 July 2008 02:48 (seventeen years ago)

j0hn otm all over the damn thread, this was entertaining as hell. i sat in the front row even!
