Cloned Animals May Be Used for Food in U.S., FDA Says
The Food and Drug Administration issued a final report today backing the use of cloned food, after a seven-year review. The agency didn't recommend special labeling for such products, though a 2001 voluntary moratorium on sales will remain in place until it is reviewed by the Agriculture Department, according to a statement released today by the FDA.

Plastic tree surgeons.
I'm not sure I'd have much of a problem with cloned animal meat since it would have the same DNA as it's 'parent' ("Hmmm, this tastes familiar.") but a vat of chicken breast or tub full of filet mignon would make me feel a wee bit uncomfortable, though the prospect of casually tossing my enemies into a swimming pool full of sweetbreads really appeals to me somehow.

It does have niche applications in the livestock industry, though, like recreating million-dollar bulls with extremely valuable genes. Seidel, who also has an cattle ranch, buys semen from Final Answer 2, the clone of the famed sire Final Answer who died in 2014. Semen from the right bull is also incredibly valuable to the dairy industry. “You’ve probably had some cheese from the offspring of a clone,” says Seidel. But actual clones are not sold for food in the United States.

...btw, even without knowing that he was cloned, Final Answer's obituary is weird as fuck: http://genex.crinet.com/news2430/ALegendPasses
Since 2009, FINAL ANSWER has been on the top 10 list for Angus registrations every year, ranking as the number one sire for registrations at the end of fiscal year 2012. He currently has 28,712 progeny registered with the American Angus Association along with countless commercial offspring. FINAL ANSWER achieved a great feat for any beef sire, by producing his 500,000th unit of semen on July 25, 2013. He has attained many notable accomplishments, due in part to his commercial acceptability and extensive use worldwide. He leaves behind moderate, efficient replacement females and superior sons, such as 1AN01146 RIGHT ANSWER, 1AN01222 PRIORITY and 1AN01141 PIONEER. In addition, his legacy continues in his clone, 1AN01259 FINAL ANSWER II, a sire that can be used with the same expectations as FINAL ANSWER.
