I'd probably watch New World, just haven't sought it out. I'm not completely in love with Malick or anything.

Trailer for this got me interested throughout, then got to the end and went "holy shit this is a woody allen?" Now I gotta see.

He's the worst part of The New World. He's good in Intermission, I think, and pretty good in Minority Report (except of course he has the awful scene with Von Sydow which ruins it)? That might be it. Otherwise I'm not a big fan.

lol, Armond White writes it's a pity this was bumped from December, cuz it belongs with all those "grim, drab, hateful, anti-human movies" that made 2007 "a great movie year" for the NY Times critics. "Prime Woody Allen muck."

I dunno, the trailer looked sharp, or maybe I was fooled by the effective lighting and Tom Wilkinson snapping like a turtle.

that's pretty much the only way I'd take Colin

I guess I am stupid then. there was certainly nothing in the presentation fo the trailer that gave any hint it was a Woody Allen movie.

altho yes I know trailers rarely indicate anything useful about the actual quality of the movie being advertised

Woody did an NPR interview 2 weeks ago and still can't believe Hollywood Ending wasn't recognized as one of his best. "I'm the only acta not to be nominated for an Academy Awahd for playing a blind person!"

its all in the presentation - his name appeared at the END, no use of his traditional font, none of his usual music, etc.

By all means, please point out what in the trailer screamed "WOODY ALLEN MOVIE" to you

I saw it and I recall not liking it, but I can't remember much specific about it beside that.

I didn't. I've kinda given up on Woody at this point, haven't remotely liked anything since Match Point.

it's another morality play like match point. i think it might be his best of the decade.

Maybe you have to be British to appreciate fully just how bad this is. But even on a technical level it's a disaster.

Really, stevie t's my favorite movie in the last 10 years.
