Rather embarrassing.

chap, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 00:04 (eighteen years ago)

guess it kind of answers your question though!

s1ocki, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 00:07 (eighteen years ago)

just like mobile phones it has lulled everyone into not actually making any plans

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 00:22 (eighteen years ago)

My parents pass me messages through my cousins on Facebook. I mean really.

It's improved my Scrabble game, that's about it.

Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 04:12 (eighteen years ago)

whats a facebook

electricsound, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 04:25 (eighteen years ago)

I voted "yes", but I've basically been on Facebook for as long as I've had a social life (bit of a shut-in in high school), so I don't really have anything to compare to.

bernard snowy, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 04:35 (eighteen years ago)

sounds like it's worked wonders for you

elan, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 04:36 (eighteen years ago)

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 04:44 (eighteen years ago)

the biggest thing for me is that it helps to keep in touch with fringe people from high school that you may want to say hi to or whatever but don't want to worry about awkwardly ending a conversation with

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 22 January 2008 05:05 (eighteen years ago)

Using Facebook, I increased my contacts through my social network, linking up through common hot musical interests and authors that we love, pictures with convenient tags, and events that we can all RSVP to a week in advance. Thanks Facebook!

electricsound, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 06:09 (eighteen years ago)

i signed up for scrabble then got bored with that now i want to quit but i cant bring myself to do it? because people keep adding me as friends i guess? something about it is lame compared to myspace. vibe-wise.

sleep, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 06:14 (eighteen years ago)

I think my social life was just fine before Facebook, so I haven't really felt any need to join there. My friends have tried to get me to join, but so far they haven't really been able to explain why a cell phone and email aren't enough to contact people. Plus I don't really like any form of electronic communication, I've always preferred calling people by phone, and seeing the face to face.

Tuomas, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 06:54 (eighteen years ago)

them

Tuomas, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 06:55 (eighteen years ago)

I got laid from Facebook by someone who LIKED MY MUSICAL TASTE. She omitted the fact that she was IN A SORORITY. I started dating someone and she used facebook to CALL THEM and tell them I WAS CHEATING ON THEM WITH HER.

After I joined Facebook my friends took notice of the fact that I had a broken ankle and some of them even visited me!

maybe, but I'd say it's more an issue of college improving my social life than anything else.

Well, obviously it's a bit different with ILX, because you all live in different countries than me. But from what I've gathered, people use Facebook mostly to communicate with people they already know, and who live in the same city or country.

Tuomas, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 20:13 (eighteen years ago)

my old high-school best friend just got in touch with me for the first time 15 years.

sexyDancer, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 20:14 (eighteen years ago)

I probably wouldn't keep up with most of the people I do if it weren't for Facebook. Even if I did, it wouldn't be as easy.

elan, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 20:20 (eighteen years ago)

That's about the way I feel. I have also had one relationship partly thanks to Facebook (I had her number as well and everything, but it made the courting process a hell of a lot easier. Somehow it's a lot easier to bottle phoning or texting someone than to get in touch via a networking site. For me, anyway).

I swear to god, not just for the funnies, I thought dude seriously just came on here and said "I got PORKED today," which would be ... I don't even know

nabisco, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 20:24 (eighteen years ago)

xxp: more like the other way around. he's a video game designer for microsoft and drives racing cars, and I'm a "cult musician" with a entry-level research job.

sexyDancer, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 20:24 (eighteen years ago)

I've played poker with a bunch of freaking Turks who go all-in on every hand, even if they've got something stupid like 2H 7C.

Does that count as improving my social life? I also get to practice my Spanish every once in awhile with the Argentinians.

Pleasant Plains, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 20:31 (eighteen years ago)

No, but like RH,... actually no, it hasn't even improved my Scrabble game. :-( It has made another dent in my ego. Bah. :-)

stevienixed, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 21:05 (eighteen years ago)

I've been kicking ass at scrabble but I'm getting beaten by the stupidest girl I was ever involved with. :X

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 21:07 (eighteen years ago)

Trust me, compared with her. Actually it is so weird: I win from some all the time and from others I lose so badly. Like against Ally: opened with a bingo and will probably LOSE. How fucking sad is that? Very. :-(

stevienixed, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 21:11 (eighteen years ago)

I don't even play steve shasta anymore

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 21:13 (eighteen years ago)

I got beat by a native Russian speaker.

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 21:14 (eighteen years ago)

I wanted to quit. Result? I am now playing 12 games. *sigh* The problem with FB Scrabble is you can't have tht momentum going (?). That's the excuse I use, that and not speaking proper English. hah

stevienixed, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 21:16 (eighteen years ago)

Also, my mom ignored my request to befriend her. So what do YOU think? Of course it hasn't improved my social life.

stevienixed, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 21:16 (eighteen years ago)

negotiable, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 21:19 (eighteen years ago)

Er, yeah, based on that pic I'd say she's not real.

Tuomas, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 21:30 (eighteen years ago)
