If some catastrophe destroyed all the machines and tools on this earth, but not the libraries,

The blue-green world is drenched with horse gore, Thursday, 17 January 2008 01:03 (eighteen years ago)

a new generation would slowly rebuild civilisation.

Lots of water since I have a treadmill workout scheduled.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 17 January 2008 01:04 (eighteen years ago)

If the libraries are all destroyed too, there could be no re-emergence of civilisation, for all our carefully stored knowledge would have gone, and man would have to start regaining it from scratch.

Diet Coke

I would LIKE to be drinking some whisk(e)y or some beer or both, but that's not going to happen for about a month and a half.

Man, fuck this bar exam thing.

B.L.A.M., Thursday, 17 January 2008 01:21 (eighteen years ago)

Oh shit, I had a Steel Reserve several hours ago. I don't think I'd ever tried it before. Blurhg. What am I gonna do with these other four cans?

Abbott, Thursday, 17 January 2008 04:23 (eighteen years ago)

I've been drinking like six or seven servings of milk a day lately.

Abbott, Thursday, 17 January 2008 04:24 (eighteen years ago)

ian, Thursday, 17 January 2008 04:26 (eighteen years ago)

Maudite

Hurting 2, Thursday, 17 January 2008 05:16 (eighteen years ago)

Abbott, my folks (eh does anyone use that term?) always claimed you get a lot of phlegm when you drink copious amounts of milk. I used to drink gallons of milk with Ovolmaltine.

Granted it's morning here and I breastfeed so alcohol is out of the question. I'm drinking tea. I am craving for green tea.

stevienixed, Thursday, 17 January 2008 05:17 (eighteen years ago)

Milk really does wonders in that regard, it's true. Orange juice does the same thing to me. Doesn't help that I'm hacking up 2 years worth of lung oysters now that I've given up smoking.

Abbott, Thursday, 17 January 2008 05:19 (eighteen years ago)

turns out that was two bell's two-hearted ales and a lagunitas pils, then across the street for a pyrat rum rickey. I should have pulled an I DIED tonight, I went premium on this bidness. cheers.

El Tomboto, Thursday, 17 January 2008 07:15 (eighteen years ago)

and moving on to a superhot habanero bloody mary with v8, a half a lime and a reprehensible amount of smirnoff as usual

El Tomboto, Thursday, 17 January 2008 07:33 (eighteen years ago)

I gotta go mix another drink

El Tomboto, Thursday, 17 January 2008 07:43 (eighteen years ago)

once i took a leak after cutting jabaƱeros; the resulting pain was akin to dipping my junk in a mug of nettles.

remy bean, Thursday, 17 January 2008 07:44 (eighteen years ago)

gbx, Thursday, 17 January 2008 07:45 (eighteen years ago)

Tom D., Thursday, 17 January 2008 12:40 (eighteen years ago)

I have finished one of my remaining "Steel Reserves" and am gonna foolhardishly attempt to drink the other two before sleepy time. Anyone who wants to walk me through this is welcome to. GChat lols at my expense?

dell, Friday, 18 January 2008 06:07 (eighteen years ago)

I got giddy on something very appropriately called "Bourbon Hot Spiced Cider." For nights when it's so mother-humpin' cold that even regular bourbon don't cut it. You need *hot* bourbon.

kenan, Friday, 18 January 2008 06:11 (eighteen years ago)

I'm a broken record, Steel Reserve 24 oz followed by PBR 24 oz. Both $1.19 and both paid for in nickels and dimes!

SR truly not good but better than Hurricane High Gravity.

wanko ergo sum, Friday, 18 January 2008 06:11 (eighteen years ago)

So is that like a hot toddy, but substitute chilis for lemons?

dell, Friday, 18 January 2008 06:12 (eighteen years ago)

(xpost, obv)

dell, Friday, 18 January 2008 06:12 (eighteen years ago)

lemons, cinnamon, the whole nine. And bourbon.

kenan, Friday, 18 January 2008 06:13 (eighteen years ago)

I was having Kalamazoo Amber, which is supposed to be fake Bell's made by Kalamazoo Brewing Co. for the Chicago market. Good, but not Bell's.

Kenan's drink smelled pretty good.

dan m, Friday, 18 January 2008 06:13 (eighteen years ago)

wanko, c'mon, you're not that poor, are you? You're gonna give me some weird superiority complex! I bought a four-pack the other night with abe.

dell, Friday, 18 January 2008 06:14 (eighteen years ago)

The only way I can even drink this SR stuff is by taking slo sips and smoking cigarettes, which means I have my windows fully open even though it is freezing rain outside

dell, Friday, 18 January 2008 06:15 (eighteen years ago)

that sounds good, though, kenan. my sole hot toddy experiences= soporific wonderfullness

dell, Friday, 18 January 2008 06:16 (eighteen years ago)

I can hear people running through my neighborhood and shrieking. lol students on break

dell, Friday, 18 January 2008 06:18 (eighteen years ago)

Oh I am that poor. Paycheck tomorrow though. I'll be drinking Yeungling for about a week and then back to That Two Eleven.

wanko ergo sum, Friday, 18 January 2008 06:19 (eighteen years ago)

PBR tallboys, at a bar overflowing with that weird hipster/yuppie hybrid that portland has, but the jukebox is good and i'm having more fun than just doing this at home.

kingfish, Friday, 18 January 2008 06:19 (eighteen years ago)

at a bar overflowing with that weird hipster/yuppie hybrid that portland every transitional neighborhood in America has

kenan, Friday, 18 January 2008 06:20 (eighteen years ago)

bully for you, kingfish. also i didn't realize that tallboys, or "pounders" as they are known here, were an option in bars elsewhere

dell, Friday, 18 January 2008 06:22 (eighteen years ago)

either way. This play isn't nearly as much fun as the irishy joint across the street, despite the nice jukebox wot has neko case and the stone roses and bowie and mbv on it

kingfish, Friday, 18 January 2008 06:22 (eighteen years ago)

xp

a tallboy is known as such across the land, innit?

kingfish, Friday, 18 January 2008 06:23 (eighteen years ago)

this place, rather

kingfish, Friday, 18 January 2008 06:23 (eighteen years ago)

i dunno, in philly, they always advertise them as "pounders", i think.

dell, Friday, 18 January 2008 06:25 (eighteen years ago)

I opened a half-gallon of OJ last night/morning at 3am and have since finished it. I hope the acid doesn't eat my stomach!

Stevie D, Friday, 18 January 2008 06:25 (eighteen years ago)

xpost lol encouraging binge drinking culture

dell, Friday, 18 January 2008 06:25 (eighteen years ago)

I am worried that the corn-sweetness of SR will do damage to my pancreas. it's like drinking alcholified corn syrupy sodey pop

dell, Friday, 18 January 2008 06:27 (eighteen years ago)

wanko, do you live in the n.e. somewhere? I dunno the distribution of the yuengling

dell, Friday, 18 January 2008 06:28 (eighteen years ago)

rly good dry red picked by ms lauren
brooklyn lagers
turkey shot
vitamin water (elkjas dg i know)

tehresa, Friday, 18 January 2008 06:28 (eighteen years ago)

i am a little upset that i left an almost full maker's at the bar last night but i guess i didn't really need it at that point.

tehresa, Friday, 18 January 2008 06:29 (eighteen years ago)

I have a horrible superstition about leaving undrinken drinks at the bar, but I did it a week and a half ago. I don't think it's ruined my life or anything. Also, it wasn't anything approaching the quality of MM, so...

dell, Friday, 18 January 2008 06:32 (eighteen years ago)

I'm in N.C. Yeungling was hard to find in TX but not here.

Yeah Steel Reserve takes its toll, if you ever drink too much on a given night (for me more than 30 or so ozs) you'll feel it. Liquid death.

wanko ergo sum, Friday, 18 January 2008 06:32 (eighteen years ago)

Yeungling has scattered distibution in my town.

kingfish, Friday, 18 January 2008 06:34 (eighteen years ago)

I'm gonna try to do 36oz. That's why I'm shamelessly soliciting people to chat w/me via google. It could be an unpretty solo run.

dell, Friday, 18 January 2008 06:35 (eighteen years ago)

wow. I had no idea. Criminally, one cannot get Brooklyn products on the west coast. So wrong.

dell, Friday, 18 January 2008 06:35 (eighteen years ago)

I mean, I know that Portland, Seattle, NoCal have amazing beerz, but, oh, Brooklyn.

dell, Friday, 18 January 2008 06:36 (eighteen years ago)

I love my town and its many beerz.

I don't love the noise level and fashion level that this stupid bar has somehow attained in the last 60 minutes. I'm debating whether to play Ultima VII on this laptop to offset it.

Fuck, I need another beer.

kingfish, Friday, 18 January 2008 06:39 (eighteen years ago)

Disengage from laptop, and engage with other people? (WWdD?)

dell, Friday, 18 January 2008 06:48 (eighteen years ago)

For dinner, the rightmost beer in this lineup:

http://www.eku.biz/de/eku/001/001_sorten.php

For the birthday get-together afterward, two gin and tonics.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 18 January 2008 07:18 (eighteen years ago)

They weren't with engaging with, trust me.

Am now back at house, drinking 24oz can.

Found this: http://www.tmz.com/2008/01/17/hulking-masses-seen-in-beverly-hills/

wheee.

kingfish, Friday, 18 January 2008 07:21 (eighteen years ago)

weren't WORTH, rather

kingfish, Friday, 18 January 2008 07:21 (eighteen years ago)

I don't get the "their son looks like a 'muppet priest'" in that picture, but hey, i'm not qualified to do celeb journalism, so it's not really my place to comment

dell, Friday, 18 January 2008 07:26 (eighteen years ago)

I'm more entertained by the pleather fanny pack.

kingfish, Friday, 18 January 2008 07:28 (eighteen years ago)

Has there been a thread here on "what is the deal w/those t-shirts"? (like the one Hulk is wearing?) That's one of my main memories of the awfulness of 2007

dell, Friday, 18 January 2008 07:30 (eighteen years ago)

miller high life pitchers for 2$ and milk in my golden grahms.

CaptainLorax, Friday, 18 January 2008 08:22 (eighteen years ago)

i had a whiskey at dinner and i just came back from a bar where i had 3 gimlets and i don't even feel buzzed : \

gershy, Friday, 18 January 2008 08:30 (eighteen years ago)

i am on my lastest SR. there is more beer in the fridge, but making it through this dangerous syrup is gonna be a task...chat me through it, other-timezone or late-night people, c'mon. full permission granted to cut and paste transcripts here for eternal shrine of lol's sake. seers.

dell, Friday, 18 January 2008 08:36 (eighteen years ago)
