so, what time do you go to bed on a school night? i try to be in bed by 10, so i can get up ok the next morning, but its seems to be more like 12.30 at the moment, i'm not getting enough sleep.

gareth, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

varies. almost never before 12:30. at the mo roughly 1, but generally it's around 3. my flatmate tends to be up til 3 or so most nights, so i usually drift into doing that too. it helps that i don't have to be in work at any fixed time, so i usually come in for 10-11am and stay until 6-11pm.

toby, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

4am, though I usually fall asleep in the evening for a bit.

Graham, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

yeh, before i got involved in this work game, i used to go to bed between 4 and 6 am, can't do that anymore...

gareth, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Rarely before 11.30. Often a lot later. I don't get enough sleep, but going to bed is like giving up on the day.

i think the time i was happiest with my life was when i was going to bed at 4-5am and getting up at 1pm or so. that used to work really well in cambridge but somehow in london it's a bit of a disaster. i quite like being able to go to the gym at lunch, for example, and that's not much of an option if you wake up in the afternoon.

toby, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Between 12 and half 12, but I don't get up til 8. If I take an early night, I usually lie in bed for ages thinking "I took an early night, must get to sleep".

jel --, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I just get so bored of being awake and having to sit in uncomfortable silence with my weirdo flatmate that I end up stomping up to my room by 9:30 and as there is nowhere to sit other than the bed I get into bed and then stop watching TV or whatever at 11:00 at the very latest. My body seems to be a bit confused as despite the fact that we are going from winter to spring it just wants to sleep all the time. Though that could be my brain not my body. Anyway I get deeply irritable - yes even more than usual - if I miss out on my 8 hours more than 1 night running.

Emma, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It depends, I sometimes have a lot of problems falling asleep. So somewhere between 11:00 pm and 3:00 am.

Nicole, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ideally, 10:30 but there's always some awful last minute reading that's due the next day keeping me up till 1.

Evangeline, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

go to bed 1.30, slepp 3.30 due to insomnia. listwened to dont touch that dial last night on world service, from japan; played melt banana, cibo matto, and other crazy j-pop stuff. that and dreem team are the things i stay upo for and listen to in bed. like to hear sailing by before i go to sleep, so by default i am awake until 12.48 or whatever.

ambrose, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I can't go to bed early. I have some kind of paranoia. If I go to bed early something might happen while I was asleep. I could get a phonecall and miss it or countless other things.

I also can't sleep without having read something in bed first, no matter how late it is.

Ronan, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Generally to bed between midnight and 1 am. I often wake up at 4 or 5 am, which fucks me up for the rest of the day. I like waking up at about 7.30.

suzy, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I got to bed around midnight every night, and every night I say "I must go to bed earlier tomorrow". But I hate that feeling of finishing my dinner and realising that if I am to go to bed earlier there's only an hour or two before bedtime.

DV, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Every night I seem to find endless things to keep me busy (like writing essays or listening to cds or posting to ilx or just thinking) and so I don't often get to bed anytime before 12:00. And lately it's been more around 1 or so. I, too, need more sleep.

Mitch Lastnamewithheld, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I am astounded. Everyone seems to be so busy they cannot find time to sleep. I on the other hand have so little to do it seems like sleeping is the best option.

Emma, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

going to bed is like giving up on the day

YES! just saw this. precisely.

Ronan, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I've taken to going to bed at about 11:00 every weekday. It makes a big difference in how I feel the next morning, and I'm at a point in my life where my job performance is much more important than going out on a weekday. And trust me; I used to go out to nightclubs several times during the week, I dj'd on a weekday, I was pretty much a party animal. Maybe I just got bored of it all.

Sean, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Around midnight, unless, like Emma, I am reading in my bedroom to avoid Freak Flatmate and fall asleep with the light on, in all my clothes with the book on my head/ under my back/ in some other uncomfortable place. That tends to happen at about 10:30. Then I wake up at three and sort myself out.

Anna, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Usually around 11ish -- I have to get up at 6:30 at the absolute latest, so there ya go. But it all works for me.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

between midnight and 3 for a 6 o clock class

anthony, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

between midnight and 3 for an 8 o clock not 6 , and \my ride comes at 8 so i really have to get up at 7

anthony, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Anywhere between 9 and 11.30 depending on the Teev and how bored/tired/drunk I am.

electric sound of jim, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I like going to bed at 11:30...but my bedtime actually varies from 12:30 to about 5 in the morning...try taking a test with one and a half hours. @_@ that was crazy...though I ended up acing the test...that was nice.

jen, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

If I have to be up early (like, about eight) then I normally go to bed between two and three. If I don't have to get up early then anytime I'm tired (sometimes about six/seven) and then I get up about two.

jamesmichaelward, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i have to be at school by 10am most schooldays, so i go to bed around 11. except on wednesdays when la femme nikita is on. or on tuesdays because $2pints and BOG openings.

di, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

seven months pass...
Around 11.30 usually. I never go to sleep if I go to bed early, so there's no point.

MarkH (MarkH), Thursday, 31 October 2002 16:00 (twenty-three years ago)

alas gone are the days when i could fall into bed at 4am and rise to cheerfully ( though probably still drunkenly ) head off to work at 7am.
now i crash around 9.30, exhausted, sleep fitfilly and wake at 5am when my son starts to sing from his cot.
its an age thing too, i just dont bounce back from those late night / early morings like i used to when i was 20.
*sigh*

donna (donna), Thursday, 31 October 2002 19:55 (twenty-three years ago)

I fell asleep at 7 am today after being up all night. This is becoming an increasingly common pattern for me.
