I've never had a drivers license, yet I think cars are awesome. People I know mostly acknowledge the classic '50s models, but I'm all about the sleazy '70s rods.

I've also come to the conclusion that all calendars should be car calendars. (Also ... or not.)

Vitamin C (On a Chrysler Valiant Charger)

Nice get. I thought that was Hemi Orange but they are different, you're right.

http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r131/exhdo1/paintcode.jpg

Plymouth had such unbelievably small production runs.

the Hemi-powered 1971 Barracuda convertible is now considered one of the rarest and most desirable collectible automobiles. Only seven were known to be produced; the six surviving have sold for US$2,000,000 or more each.

felicity, Tuesday, 4 March 2008 21:33 (seventeen years ago)

You betcha. 1973 Chrysler by Chrysler. However in this case the Hemi is a 265ci (4.3L) straight six.

Pity it's not a 2 door, or it'd be worth 4 times as much. Also regarding the colours, I may be incorrect, they are obviously different here. Mine looks a bit like "Burgundy Poly", but is 'STAR BRONZE METALLIC'.

Here is a 'limelight' VH Charger:

http://www.ravenentertainment.com.au/images/LimelightVHE55.jpg

S-, Wednesday, 5 March 2008 00:17 (seventeen years ago)

You are Dodge material.

http://www.foundationpc.com/brochure/70broch/cover.jpg

Is that a Charger you are restoring up there?

Personally, I'd love to find a 1970-71 Dart Swinger with the fabled Slant-6 engine.

felicity, Wednesday, 5 March 2008 02:04 (seventeen years ago)

Personally, I'd love to find a 1970-71 Dart Swinger with the fabled Slant-6 engine.

Is that a slant 225? They were big here in the 60's.

I almost bought the local version of a 4th gen Dodge Dart, same body shape:

http://www.nextcar.com.au/e.i.2005.mfs.Chrysler.Valiant.Regal.1970.VG.JPG

S-, Wednesday, 5 March 2008 02:11 (seventeen years ago)

And no, I just saw that Charger while I was driving past, you can see my car in the background. In fact it had an explicit "Not For Sale" sign in the window. Chargers have gotten ridiculously expensive in the last 5-8 years.

S-, Wednesday, 5 March 2008 02:13 (seventeen years ago)

Is that a slant 225?

They made a 225. It could be.

I just love that concave back window and the "Sw*nger" emblem.

http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/12/web/2328000-2328999/2328965_12.jpg

The Plymouth Scamp (basically the same car) had the concave window, too.

http://www.jeffjack.com/scamp/images/71_Scamp.gif

http://www.virtual-museum.net/plymouth-valiant/images/exhibitions/emblems/valiant-scamp-emblem.gif

And very limited-edition colors. That was their thing, since they were the littlest of the Big 3.
