Shakey Mo Collier, Monday, 28 January 2008 23:38 (eighteen years ago)

We should RAWK, since this is probably Bush's last State of the Union address.

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 28 January 2008 23:39 (eighteen years ago)

Alright, let's begin guessing what batshit irrelevant thing from out of nowhere that he's going to mention tonight...

I'm guessing it won't be the Gold Standard.

kingfish, Monday, 28 January 2008 23:42 (eighteen years ago)

I got a bottle of Dalmore on Saturday. I plan to wallow.

ENDORSE RUDY GIULIANI.

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 28 January 2008 23:43 (eighteen years ago)

btw lol on any president going thru the charade of proposing anything in the first year -- as if George W. Bush won't be fishing in Kennebunkport with Poppa in a year.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Monday, 28 January 2008 23:43 (eighteen years ago)

will the response be more star-making for Sebelius than it was for Kaine?

gabbneb, Monday, 28 January 2008 23:50 (eighteen years ago)

Sadly, it sounds like Bush will be the same as he always is tonight. Sobering article.

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 28 January 2008 23:58 (eighteen years ago)

He will no doubt take this opportunity to claim that Iraq is making wonderful progress toward becoming a stable democracy and that we need to stick with it and not cut and run. Or words to that effect.

If the Palestinians are mentioned it will be to claim that his trip was a roaring success. Anything further on the subject of Israel will be all platitude and empty wind.

He'll tell us the fundamental economy is sound, but that he is moving effectively with Congress to correct a bit of a problem with bad credit that seems to have bothered Wall Street lately. We'll all be just fine.

There will be a bit of raw meat for the fundies.

Etc. Etc.

Is there any sport left in predicting his inane worldview and his puffed up claims of leading us all in the right direction? It will be crap crap crap as far as the eye can see and ear can hear. God am I sick of it.

Aimless, Tuesday, 29 January 2008 00:14 (eighteen years ago)

He won't advise to "stick with it" because his plan requires the troops that are part of the surge to linger long enough to claim victory, then go home.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Tuesday, 29 January 2008 00:16 (eighteen years ago)

'we will deliver justice to our enemies' is such a nice euphemism for 'vaporize'

remy bean, Tuesday, 29 January 2008 02:37 (eighteen years ago)

For great justice even. (Hey, if he wants to look back to the halcyon days of 2001...)

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 29 January 2008 02:42 (eighteen years ago)

Daniel, Esq., Tuesday, 29 January 2008 02:55 (eighteen years ago)

As for Yglesias, it isn't particularly defiant. Mostly lazy. So, tongue-in-cheek or not, no.

hillary looks so annoyed to have to sit here for this shit.

Everyone gets pissed off at their colleagues at one time or another, but I can scarcely imagine the depth of restraint that it must take to sit through something like this...

Oh! Bush loves teh gays after all

Rep. Barney Frank was on his cell when President Bush passed by and joked, "Tell him I said hello." Later, the openly gay congressman told him it was his boyfriend on the line, reports Matthew Huisman of the Boston University-Washington News Service. "Oh, okay, I hope he appreciates how open-minded I am," Bush said.

OH BLOW ME

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Wednesday, 30 January 2008 20:32 (eighteen years ago)

I am strong. I am unfuckwithable. I am POTUS.
