Does anyone remember a kids film (maybe Australian?) about a magic potion (possibly slimming)? And did it have a koala in it?

I used to love this film as a kid, but I can't remember hardly anything of it now. All I remember is a koala that didn't talk but you could hear his thoughts, and some kind of magic potion that made people go weird, but I think it was supposed to be a slimming potion or similar. I remember that when someone had some potion there was a big "BONG!" sound effect and they'd go cross-eyed. I think there were bungling criminal baddies (as befits a kids film) but the only scene I can remember is a bit where the grown up good guy plays a game of tennis but keeps procrastinating in increasingly improbable ways to get the game to carry on for as long as possible.

Does this ring any bells with anyone? At all?

Is it "That Bizarre-Sounding Movie Made Up By The Wayward Johnny B"?

HI DERE, Wednesday, 30 January 2008 15:16 (eighteen years ago)

When I described it to my colleagues everyone thought I'd made it up. But I phoned my Mum and she remembers me watching the video loads, although remembers no more about the film itself than I do.

The film may have been early to mid 80s? That's based purely on how old I would have been when watching it, and the style of shorts that the tennis players were wearing.

Oh, and I think the potion was made into little green bars, and the baddies might have been stealing the bars?

I think the image of wild-haired guys eating little green bars, going cross-eyed and starting doing crazy stuff prefigured my teenage years somewhat.

A koala in it?

It's not the Koala Tea of Mercie, is it?

All Australian films were like that in the eighties, I'm gonna need far more information to even think about pinning it down.
