Doubtless there's another thread but if not...
Anyway, inspired by the Cryptokids! Thanks, NSA!

outstanding.
Without NSA/CSS, they wouldn't be able to talk to one another without the bad guys listening and they wouldn't be able to figure out what the bad guys were planning.

Y2K for kids by FEMA is kinda funny.

I had missed all the Cryptokids biographies.
I think the Cryptokids website only exists so that the NSA can keep track of which smartass adults come to laugh at it. They've got a file on all of us now, and they know which Cryptokid's profile we clicked on first!

Some really negative people were frightening folks with comments about the world going dark at midnight on January 1, 2000,
ADULT TRANSLATION: some fuckhead journalists were trying to make a name for themselves by predicting chaos.
I was working for an IT support company, and on call that New Year's Eve. Absolutely nothing happened! I hope all the people who listened to the scare stories like beans, because I think they'll still be eating the canned goods they hoarded.

It is kind of weird in light of everything that a Hermit Crab is the FEMA kids logo? Like, "Sorry you don't have a house anymore! Just find a bigger can to crawl into."

x-post -- What about this one?
http://www.nsa.gov/kids/bios/images/BioShot_Rosie_html.gif
One summer, we traveled to Tokyo, Japan, to visit my grandparents. I got to climb part of Mt. Fuji, learn about the ancient Japanese religion of Shinto, and practice various kinds of martial arts including Karatedo (The Way of the Empty Hand) and Kyudo (The Way of the Bow). I also got to wear a traditional Kimono dress, attend the local Aomori Nebuta Festival and try my hand at Origami and Ikebana, the ancient arts of paper folding and flower arrangement. Oh! I almost forgot - I tried sushi (rice and raw fish wrapped in seaweed) and calamari (that’s octopus!) for the first time as well. It sounds gross, but they both taste really good and they’re easy to pick up with chopsticks!...One day I was studying at the University and Sergeant Sam was speaking to the librarian about finding a book on Egyptian hieroglyphics. Since my mom had let me help her translate a tablet on one of their digs, I followed him to the section on ancient civilizations and asked him about his interest. He told me that he was teaching some of his students about using different languages to communicate in code. Since I knew a lot about different languages, he asked me if I would like to join the group and help the other kids with their ciphering. With an enthusiastic yes, I met the group the next day and we’ve been making and breaking codes ever since.

Sgt. Sam is so pissed at Rosie and T-Top's experiments with 'legal' drugs like Dramamine and datura, but they pass the crypto-drug test.

I like how as a bonus level you get to make a tofu turkey by shaping plain, unseasoned, crumbled tofu into something resembling a burial mound and then you click your mouse to baste it with "the sauce" (contents never divulged) from a pharmaceutical eye dropper.
― fields of salmon, Tuesday, 25 November 2008 00:02 (sixteen years ago)
HOLY SHIT that PETA site o_0
― Trayce, Tuesday, 25 November 2008 00:14 (sixteen years ago)
It makes me want to eat a live raw turkey just to spite them.
― Trayce, Tuesday, 25 November 2008 00:15 (sixteen years ago)
Oh c'mon, that PETA kids site is just meant to mirror adult behaviour(ism) to adultsin some way, isn't it? Isn't it?!
I think it's done quite clever. Take aside some of the gross internal organ stuff, which is mostly the butcher's deal for us, it's kinda on the money isn't it? It's what we 'do', right? I can't be sure this is really meant for kids, but it's mostly true, 's what it is.
― Le Bateau Ivre, Tuesday, 25 November 2008 00:38 (sixteen years ago)
One generally does bleed out an animal before cutting it up. (Not to open some kind of veg debate abyss, just to say it wouldn't be all that Texas Chainsaw Massacre red paint factory throughout the process.)
― Abbott of the Trapezoid Monks (Abbott), Tuesday, 25 November 2008 00:48 (sixteen years ago)
Hahaha at the end actually my brother asked me if that was what it was really like to cut up a turkey. I said, "Dad just SHOT a turkey, you could ask him. "Oh. Right."
lol dad kills things

Well (trying to keep that abyss closed as well), that's true Abbott. I still can't believe how that website is more for kids than it is for adults though.

Oh hey, the Cryptokids have some new pals:
http://www.nsa.gov/kids/cyber_twins/index.shtml
Cy and Cyndi love everything "cyber." Both are world travelers, taking turns accompanying their Dad (a computer scientist for the U.S. Army) on his business trips around the world. To keep in touch while they are traveling with their Dad, Cy and Cyndi use social networking and video chat.Cy loves playing real-life virtual computer games with his Dad. Through this time together, Cy has gained a lot of experience and is known by all his friends to be the "best gamer on the block."Cy and Cyndi's mother is an engineer for the U.S. government. Her love of electronics and gadgets is shared by Cyndi. One of Cyndi's favorite things to do is to take apart her gadgets and figure out how they work.Cy and Cyndi both love to talk with other kids who love computers and cyber space as much as they do. When they discovered how many kids did not know about staying safe while enjoying cyberspace, they teamed up to teach Cybersecurity Awareness to kids everywhere.Cy and Cyndi will be formally joining the "CryptoKids®" gang. Check back soon to hear more of their story!
