I saw a Class War sticker on a lamp post last night. It had a picture of the Queen and the legend PARASITE!
I thought - OK, I can see how you are a worthy organisation in the sense that there is still a huge amount of inequality in this country, but by using the Royal Family as your main punchbag aren't you missing the point and alienating potential supporters?
The Royal Family don't really cost us very much at all. They aren't the ones causing the problem. It is 'fat cat' business people and has been for quite a while now.
So, anyway, Class War!, people.

Immature ill-thought through response to a bunch of twats who want hanging.

Ha!
Pretty thoroughly identified on this thread I think.
― Dingbod Kesterson, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 11:31 (eighteen years ago)
Non doms are the new Royal Family.
― Dom Passantino, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 11:31 (eighteen years ago)
I'm pretty sure the Royal Family aren't on my side.
― Noodle Vague, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 11:32 (eighteen years ago)
but not against you either, pretty indifferent to you in fact.
― Grandpont Genie, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 11:33 (eighteen years ago)
Stuff the Jubilee
― Tom D., Tuesday, 19 February 2008 11:34 (eighteen years ago)
Not true, I got a really pissy e-mail from Viscount Linley after I reviewed the last Marilyn Manson album.
xp

Inasfar as I'm no threat to their position, perhaps. Don't need to be political when there are plenty of stooges to do yr dirty work for you. Don't seriously try and tell me that they're "above" politics.
― Noodle Vague, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 11:35 (eighteen years ago)
I've never felt more divorced from "England" than during the Golden Jubilee celebrations, just wandering around looking at cunts hanging out bunting and going "This... this has nothing to do with me at all"
― Dom Passantino, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 11:35 (eighteen years ago)
Oh, I dunno, they always want to know what you do for a living...

Charlie and Philip aren't exactly shy about voicing their opinions, given half a chance. Also, the existence of the monarch as Head of State is a permanent "fuck you democracy". Also "don't cost us very much at all" hahahahaha.
― Noodle Vague, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 11:36 (eighteen years ago)
"Prince Philip rules the country behind the scenes. I think Prince Philip is the actual head of the Royal Family. He is a racist. He was brought up by his aunt who married one of Hitler's generals.
This is the man who is in charge, who is manipulating and can do anything. It's time to send him back to Germany from where he comes. You want to know his original name - it ends in Frankenstein."
― Tom D., Tuesday, 19 February 2008 11:37 (eighteen years ago)
I mean "don't cost us very much at all" compared to Trident probably, "don't cost us very much at all" compared to most OAPs = GTFOOD.
― Noodle Vague, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 11:38 (eighteen years ago)
if we had a President the rest of us wouldn't be any better off!
― Grandpont Genie, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 11:39 (eighteen years ago)
If we had a President we could vote them out.
― Noodle Vague, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 11:40 (eighteen years ago)
Not unless it was Jon "Gaunty" Gaunt
― Dom Passantino, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 11:40 (eighteen years ago)
and Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden and Norway are often held up as being better places to live with less inequality than the UK **YET THEY ARE ALL MONARCHIES!!!!!**
― Grandpont Genie, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 11:40 (eighteen years ago)
Cost has got nothing to do with it, it's the 21st century, she's a fucking QUEEN, for fuck's sake!
― Tom D., Tuesday, 19 February 2008 11:41 (eighteen years ago)
Not for much longer - I understand QUEEN has been registered as a trademark by the surviving members of the popular seventies rock group.
― Dingbod Kesterson, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 11:43 (eighteen years ago)
I used to see stickers around Reading saying "Muggers & burglars - this is a working class area - don't rob from your own! CLASS WAR!". I don't know how effective they were.
― Colonel Poo, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 11:44 (eighteen years ago)
The Royal Family don't really cost us very much at all
I wouldn't care if she came round to my house and personally gave me a fiver, I'd still kick her down the stairs shouting "Remember the Romanovs!"
― Tom D., Tuesday, 19 February 2008 11:44 (eighteen years ago)
I spent the day at Homelands, aside from seeing Jeff Mills it was utterly depressing and the one memory was a couple of lads with a banner that said AVIN IT FOR QUEEN AND COUNTRY!!
― DJ Mencap, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 11:45 (eighteen years ago)
Nah, if the Queen came round my house and gave me a fiver I'd take her round to the Betsey Trotswood and get her to participate in one of Maggie Nicols' Monday night improv sessions.
― Dingbod Kesterson, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 11:46 (eighteen years ago)
I must have been oblivious to all that cos it seemed most people didn't give a shit about it other than "great, an extra day off work"

yes or "it's not like 1977 is it?"
― Grandpont Genie, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 11:47 (eighteen years ago)
Anyway Class War, it's a tabloid at the end of the day and stickers like that PARASITE one are pretty in line with that - it's not especially thought out or making much of a claim to be, it's probably more effective in reinforcing the opinions of people who already take a "fuck the monarchy" stance

To be fair you'd expect stickers on lamp posts to contain a more in-depth Marxian critique of post-Industrial capitalism really though, wouldn't you.
― Noodle Vague, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 11:50 (eighteen years ago)
For a minute I read that as "a more in-depth Martian critique" so get ready for lots of holistic systems thinking.

Got replaced with stickers saying "Fuck off, they've got a DVD recorder CHAV WAR!!"
This may not actually be true.
― Mark G, Tuesday, 19 February 2008 11:54 (eighteen years ago)
Pretty sure it isn't.

Though "the end of racism" still looks quite a bit aways, we have Jim Crow based on income to look forward to!
