yes its a great song by def leppard. its also this really embarassing thing that teenagers inflict upon each other. who invented them? they should be BANNED!

feel free to rant about hickies or def leppard here.

also cool second lp by the buzzcocks

hi lady di :) i tried to download an LD-50 track as my FIRST EVAH MP3, but something went wrong and i can't find where it downloaded to on my computer :(

mark s, Wednesday, 13 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Great as DL/Buzzcocks reference, yes. I could speak of recent involvement with the fleshly incarnation of the term, but that would be potentially embarassing to the other party in question.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 13 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

oh no. i wish i could help you but i know absolutely nothing about computers. you are posting very gale today.

di, Wednesday, 13 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

duane, Wednesday, 13 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

di, Wednesday, 13 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes well I am trying to distance myself from the Hemulen Gangbang debacle >:0

mark s, Wednesday, 13 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

As a teen I came home once with horrible hickies all over my neck and my father nearly jumped out of his skin. He looked at my neck like a veterinarian. Then he said "what the hell HAPPENED? Did you get hit by some branches, or something?" I vanished downstairs as my mother laughed and laughed.

Tracer Hand, Wednesday, 13 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

ahh, two of my favourite things in one thread!
i love love bites...hysteria is also a superb def leppard song, but i think love and affection is my supreme favourite def leppard song (and even one of my top, say, fifty favourites songs).
oh and love bites, which were always known at the time/place as "hickeys", are...nice. but sometimes they too hard - not too hard not be enjoyable but as to be unhealthy. like it makes this hard lump. or it breaks the skin.
when i was 12 my mum saw a hickey on my neck and freaked out.
i had been just about to leave to go stay at my friend's place and go into town and she me from going, but i went anyway. she said i would be an embarrassment and people would think i was a skanky slutto [but she didn't use those words].
my dad seem to find the whole episode amusing, and laughed.
i had to leave the room when the weather on the news was about to come on because the weatherperson's name was Jim Hickey.

elizabeth anne marjorie, Wednesday, 13 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i think love and affection is my supreme favourite def leppard song

Elizabeth proves her worth by demonstrating that she's listened to Hysteria and listened to it well.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 13 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Out damn italics. Oh blimey.

RickyT, Wednesday, 13 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

That should do it.

Hickies are horrible if done intentionally.

electric sound of jim, Wednesday, 13 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Hey i downloaded korrektly this time (*leaps for volume switch*) (it's after midnight)

Suddenly I have free access to music again!! I think I just wrecked my life. It's grate di btw.

mark s, Wednesday, 13 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Hickies are gross. Even worse, those raver hickies where they fucking bite each other.

bnw, Wednesday, 13 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

When I met my first girlfriend I thought right LOVE BITES that is what boys and girls are meant to do and it was my first lesson in the harsh realities of the dating world i.e. she thought it was horrid.

Tom, Wednesday, 13 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

hidden are fine but showing esp on the face are yucky. thanks mark.

ducklingmonster, Wednesday, 13 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

danke schoen, Herr Sinker.

di, Wednesday, 13 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

btw, liz is right re "love and affection". but that whole "hysteria" album is fukkin classic! classic! hey mark you should try the murdering monsters mp3s also. (for those not in the know, duckling = lead singer and occasional assaulter of casiotone).

di, Wednesday, 13 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

ok, but to stop me simply being online 24-7 for all time i have decided to only download when the successive songtitles make grammatical sense. (eg so far i have "We aren't ILE" ph34r m3 ect ect)

mark s, Wednesday, 13 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

oh sorry my post was a mess, i'm too tired, and there was something wrong with the keyboard so it kept missing stuff out.
is hickey a term used everywhere or is it more regional to wherever?
i like hickies that show, like on the neck. maybe i just like to feel like a skanky teenager. but yeah i guess it is embarrassing sometimes, but i really like being "lovebitten" on my neck.
i got into the Hysteria album 'cause my 13 year old sister had a bogan boyfriend who was about 20 years old...
when i got braces my mum bought me a tape to cheer me up and i chose Pyromaniac which was a very disappointing album, and i find all non-hysteria def leppard to suck. especially after that made that dreadful comeback.

elizabeth anne marjorie, Wednesday, 13 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

(hickey also = name of man who shot jfk)

mark s, Wednesday, 13 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

did anyone here hear that rumour that went around everyones high school about how hickey on breast --> cancer?

di, Wednesday, 13 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

hear, hear, elizabeth anne, I thought no-one was going to favor the visible. I think hickies are sacksay! Of course, if your neck was plastered in them 24/7 then it would get pretty ridiculous, but every once in a while it's a nice 'love mark.' You may need some 'thick skin' I guess ..

Dare, Wednesday, 13 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Hickies are kind of fun - but they do look totally trashy.

Penny Lane, Wednesday, 13 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I will take you up on your invitation to rant about hickeys/hickies.

When I was a young, dumb, etc. teen, hickeys were da shit; they were the badges of a teen lervlife. Yeah, they're trashy looking but fun like most teen fads and fashions.

But wtf is up with hickeys when you and your lover are 30something? Every man over 30 I have been with has left nasty-looking love bites on my otherwise perfect breasts. They don't hurt, unlike the neck hickeys against my collarbone, but they look awful. I either have bright red marks from the impression of teeth or bruises that turn purple-yellow. I get embarrassed about the ugly marks on my boobs when I change at the gym.

I feel like a dog's fire hydrant, like they're marking me for themselves in this animalistic fashion. Perhaps they think this territorial marring of my chest will deter other lovers. Is this why they do that? They also tend not to see me again until these marks have completely faded from my tender flesh (tiens, just in time for the weekend). Hmmm...isn't that convenient?

When I complain about these blemishes, they always shrug and say they can't help themselves, that I bring out something in them that makes them do this. Oh yeah, like it's my fault. I like pale, creamy flesh and juicy woman tits, too. But I don't leave bruises and bite marks on my girlfriends' chests. I learned my lesson after my mother wouldn't breastfeed me as an infant because I bit her too hard.

Melinda Mess-Injure, Thursday, 14 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

bnw, amserican ravers are wierd.

Ed, Thursday, 14 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Euro-ravers aren't as E obsessed then?

bnw, Thursday, 14 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I mentioned the time when I was pissed and had a hickey competition with a few people in my class. I still bear the scars. Also I still have to face parental haranguing for hickeys.

I once went to a party and snogged some girl and the next day I noticed I had a hickey on my arm just below my shoulder. er.....

I have never had one. But I do wear a lot of scarves and someone asked me last night what I trying to hide. I told him, the stitches where my head was reattached a la Grimm Bros.

Pyth, Thursday, 14 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I once had an ill judged 1 night stand with a mate who was, ahem, quite, er, violent (not in a bad way) and left me covered in bruises. The next day I went for a drink with my best mate wearing a skimpy top and she saw them and was all 'what the hell happened to you?'. She too had shared a night of passion with this bloke and was very sympathetic to my plight. The bruises lasted AGES.
