The wolverine origin story that was set in the 19th century (was that the only one?) was fucking awful! I hope they don't use any of that material.

I'm guessing they'll keep the timeline consistent with the X-Men trilogy, or at least not jump back 100 years.

yeah I don't totally understand why everyone's howling like this is some terrible out of left field spinoff idea from a studio desperate to milk a franchise. there's been talk of a Wolverine movie probably since the first X-Men, and I see no reason to expect this won't at least be better than that last one that got all Ratnered up.

I didn't like the Deadpool thing, it was just like Sylar! The X-Men films as a whole suffer from rubbish baddies, Magneto is okay, just way too old - they should have made him more like Ultimate Magneto.

Overall, it was quite good knock-a-bout fun...they should've cast Stan Lee as the old farmer.

Oh, and Professor X must have been entirely CGI, coz Patrick Stewart isn't listed in the cast on IMDB.

The word seems to be that what Gavin Hood turned into a year ago was both a very decent film and rated R. He's as obvious a choice for this as Bryan Singer was, and it is a shame he couldn't see his vision realized.

Anybody who likes Deadpool or Emma Frost will be a bit o_O over this movie.

haha well, in fairness Emma Frost in the comic book basically has little to no relation to the Emma in the movie so it's easy to disconnect the two

Yeah, but really that's the Deadpool character, almost anybody could have delivered that line and pulled it off. And he always looks like he's wearing an inch of foundation. I bet Adam from American Idol wears less makeup than him.

You know if Marvel likes casting people from Two Guys a Girl and a Pizza Place, Nathan Fillion would have been a much better choice.

so yea this wasn't great. but i still enjoyed it i guess. most of the characters pretty much sucked except for logan & schrieber. brian cox was 100x better as stryker than the new guy, tho it's possible that the character was just better written in X2. i mean as an x-men fanboy i'm gonna get all excited at seeing any of my childhood favorites on the screen but a lot of this just seemed so half-assed and poorly written.

like, um, that fucking terrible scene at the end when xavier comes out of nowhere to land on the island and save the freed mutants. "hi scott i can hear your thoughts, i am here to help you" lol. tho i did enjoy seeing teenage cyclops.

deadpool character was so bad. reminded me of bane from 'batman and robin' - just this big stupid girth of a badguy who's just dumb and tough, totally uninteresting as a villian. also there weren't very many interesting mutants in this, was there? no crazy powers, nothing terribly new.

what was the asian dude's powers anyways? just really fast? yawn.

tho i thought x3 was shit when i first saw it and actually enjoyed it second time around. maybe this will be better seeing it again, now that i know it was pretty mediocre

I didn't mind this movie at all. Totally superfluous so I just appreciated all the goofy details, ott action sequences and the fact that Liev Schrieber was actually kind of cool as a kitty cat man.

Not psyched about Magneto, though. Maybe cuz it sounds like Hannibal Rising, which truly sucked.

I will probably not see Thor.

The workprint version is pretty great and fun to watch. Were there any major differences between it and the final release?
The guy who plays Blob emotes pretty well through a fat suit, a lot better than say Eddie Murphy or Gwyneth Paltrow.
I could see how paying money for this would really sour the experience, though.
