ALL SHITE.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 26 February 2008 12:37 (eighteen years ago)

Sounds like someone thinks he's too good to contact food poisoning.

Dom Passantino, Tuesday, 26 February 2008 12:38 (eighteen years ago)

Given the choice though, sausage roll I think. There's less to fuck up in a sausage roll. The pasties are the worst.

I've never seen a Scotch Egg Bar though. Sounds intriguing. It may even prompt me to risk that very particular type of wretchedness you feel from eating Ginsters products.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 26 February 2008 12:40 (eighteen years ago)

Scotch Egg Bar

Savoury pork sausage meat filled with chopped egg in a seasoned mayonnaise.

Egg Mayonnaise contains: Egg (64%), Rapeseed Oil, Water, Whole Egg, Spirit vinegar, Cornflour, Sugar, Mustard Flour, Dijon Mustard, Egg Yolk, Colour: Riboflavin, Lemon Juice, Black Pepper, Salt.

Chargrill Flavour Concentrate contains: Onion, Sugar, Water, Yoghurt, Spirit Vinegar, Salt, Cornflour, Flavourings, Garlic Powder, Black Pepper.

Dom Passantino, Tuesday, 26 February 2008 12:41 (eighteen years ago)

Actually that sounds revolting. 32% egg mayonnaise!

Matt DC, Tuesday, 26 February 2008 12:43 (eighteen years ago)

If it'd been a Long Egg wrapped in sausage meat and breadcrumbs I would approve. Ginsters haven't turned their attention to the Gala Pie yet, have they?

Matt DC, Tuesday, 26 February 2008 12:45 (eighteen years ago)

Steak Slice motherfuckers

Colonel Poo, Tuesday, 26 February 2008 12:49 (eighteen years ago)

^^^Went with this. Combined with a bag of salt and vinegar Squares and a Dr Pepper for the breakfast of kings

Dom Passantino, Tuesday, 26 February 2008 12:51 (eighteen years ago)

used to like the C&O pasties

great with crack

blueski, Tuesday, 26 February 2008 12:52 (eighteen years ago)

melton mowbray = mark of quality

blueski, Tuesday, 26 February 2008 12:52 (eighteen years ago)

Cold or heated up? I don't think I've ever had one, although I am a devotee of the Greggs steak bake, which are still possibly the most unhealthy things I eat on a regular basis.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 26 February 2008 12:52 (eighteen years ago)

(That was addressed to Dom, btw. Only disgusting deviants heat up pork pies).

Matt DC, Tuesday, 26 February 2008 12:53 (eighteen years ago)

The Greggs steak bake pretty much served as 90% of my diet at university. The Ginsters slice are actually edible cold, but then again I like my Greggs bakes, if not cold, then at least slightly congealed.

I really deserve to die of a heart attack before the time I'm 40, huh?

Dom Passantino, Tuesday, 26 February 2008 12:54 (eighteen years ago)

Greggs bloomer sarnies are the only good things they do

blueski, Tuesday, 26 February 2008 12:57 (eighteen years ago)

Nah, the apple danishes are good, so are the vanilla slices, and the New Orleans Chicken sandwich.

Dom Passantino, Tuesday, 26 February 2008 12:58 (eighteen years ago)

Greggs bloomers would be ace if they were twice the size.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 26 February 2008 13:00 (eighteen years ago)

that applies to most food

blueski, Tuesday, 26 February 2008 13:01 (eighteen years ago)

Okay, they'd be ace if they were too bleeding small, then.

The problem with the steak bake in general is the same as the McDonalds apple pie, the filling is like nuclear for 15 minutes after you get it.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 26 February 2008 13:02 (eighteen years ago)

The thread that had to be baked!

Mark G, Tuesday, 26 February 2008 13:03 (eighteen years ago)

Last week this dude came into the shop with the sole of his shoe hanging off. I stuck (yes i know exactly how interesting this sounds) it back on with superglue, in return, he bought me a sandwich from Greggs. It was steak and red onions. To my surprise it was absolutely delicious.

Coming back from the gig on Saturday night, we stopped at a service station and I bought a chicken and mozzarela bake, which I'm voting for because it was a lot tastier than I thought it was going to be. This is Ginsters' secret selling point, probably. They're pretty horrible in actuality, and you only buy them if you're hungey and it's late and there's nothing else available except for crisps and mars bars, but they never taste quite as bad as you think they're going to.

Pashmina, Tuesday, 26 February 2008 13:05 (eighteen years ago)

I thought this said GANGSTERS POLL. Which might not be a bad idea.

chap, Tuesday, 26 February 2008 13:29 (eighteen years ago)

With crushing inevitability, one of the results on the third page of Google results for 'Ginsters' is a Pitmanesque comedy hip-hop Youtube link entitled Ginsters Paradise. Except even more rubbish than that sounds. I assume, I have't listened to it.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 26 February 2008 13:31 (eighteen years ago)

what happened to Ginsters Roaster?

djmartian, Tuesday, 26 February 2008 13:42 (eighteen years ago)

scotch eggs bars are amazing actually. way better than the buffet bar

ken c, Tuesday, 26 February 2008 13:45 (eighteen years ago)

but really, since 2007 service stations are now all about Grabits

ken c, Tuesday, 26 February 2008 13:47 (eighteen years ago)

I've never even seen one of those before! They look really vile, you'd be better off with a bag of crisps.

Pashmina, Tuesday, 26 February 2008 14:01 (eighteen years ago)

At what point did "fluorescent red" become the generic signifier for "Chinese food"?

Dom Passantino, Tuesday, 26 February 2008 14:10 (eighteen years ago)

Original Cornish Pasty

It's trad, Dad. Plus it's good cold as well as hot.

DavidM, Tuesday, 26 February 2008 14:53 (eighteen years ago)

cold meat pasties no no no

blueski, Tuesday, 26 February 2008 15:20 (eighteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Monday, 3 March 2008 00:01 (eighteen years ago)

I remember as a kid, going into the local One Stop and they had a fridge full of Ginsters and a microwave you could cook it in right there. It was like living in THE FUTURE!

Sayers pasties are the best tho, obvs.

Bodrick III, Monday, 3 March 2008 00:23 (eighteen years ago)

Mexican Style Spicy Chicken, with a bag of Chilli McCoys to complete the authenic Mexican cuisine experience.

Bodrick III, Monday, 3 March 2008 00:25 (eighteen years ago)

Someone start a Greggs thread. I have never eaten Ginsters.

jim, Monday, 3 March 2008 00:35 (eighteen years ago)

Man I used to be mad for a Ginsters cheese and ham. Haven't touched in years. Them sausage-shaped scotch egg things are dope too. Nowadays I am all about the Greggs steak & onion sangwidge tho.

Noodle Vague, Monday, 3 March 2008 09:20 (eighteen years ago)

Not the scotch egg, the Buffet Bar. It's like a astronaut's breakfast, guyz.

Noodle Vague, Monday, 3 March 2008 09:21 (eighteen years ago)

the Mexican style pasties really are the tits, but my TOTAL garage doesn't sell them anymore.

so I'll go with spicey chicken slice, as this is the only other one I've had. Nice warmed up with a side order of beans on a plate.

Ste, Monday, 3 March 2008 11:56 (eighteen years ago)

You americans and your crazy food combos that are oh oh oooh so tasty.

m coleman, Monday, 3 March 2008 12:02 (eighteen years ago)

For some reason none of these foodstuffs were brought up on the "Best European Cuisine" thread.

Dom Passantino, Monday, 3 March 2008 12:03 (eighteen years ago)

Wot, no Cheese & Onion Pasty?

King Boy Pato, Monday, 3 March 2008 12:15 (eighteen years ago)

electricsound, Monday, 3 March 2008 13:54 (eighteen years ago)

never acid again, Monday, 3 March 2008 14:16 (eighteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

ILX System, Tuesday, 4 March 2008 00:01 (eighteen years ago)

The people have spoken

Dom Passantino, Tuesday, 4 March 2008 00:04 (eighteen years ago)

Noncontrarian stance!

Mark G, Tuesday, 4 March 2008 09:16 (eighteen years ago)

isn't it the ginsters cornish pasty that's filled with little squares of potato? they're not that good, those ones.

or something, Tuesday, 4 March 2008 11:25 (eighteen years ago)

savoury rockism :(

DG, Tuesday, 4 March 2008 11:31 (eighteen years ago)

Ginsters pasties are so bad. I am an unashamed rockist when it comes to Cornish pasties as I have mentioned before but Ginsters ones in particular are terrible. Crap dough + not enough meat = rub.
