The irony being that Julie Christie might have said something like this at the podium.

finally, my temptation to call her 'Collitard' justified.

i love hearing ppl who nothing about this shit saying stuff like "It was a money-sucker because they were finished, it seems to me, by 1973, and to re-cable all that, to bring up-to-date all the technology and everything, it was a lot more expensive, that work, than destroying them."
― s1ocki, Sunday, 2 March 2008 16:39 (seventeen years ago)
But after her outburst, in which she also queried the 1969 Moon landings, a successful future in Hollywood appears to be in jeopardy.
She said: "Did a man really walk on the Moon? I saw plenty of documentaries on it, and I really wondered. And in any case I don't believe all they tell me, that's for sure."
Conspiracy nut ahoy! The funniest thing about people like her is that the probably think they're smarter than the rest of us for "not believing all they tell us". They don't seem to realize that "critical thinking" does not equate with swallowing every conspiracy theory, no matter how loony they are.

come on, this is pretty good! nothing to do with plots of bankers, jews, new world orders, or any of that. just a way to save a bit of money on doing them up!
― laxalt, Sunday, 2 March 2008 17:16 (seventeen years ago)
i don't believe they landed on the moon. it seems to me that, by 1969, it was a lot more expensive to fly to the moon, than to film it in a warehouse in Glendale
― laxalt, Sunday, 2 March 2008 17:18 (seventeen years ago)
I love the idea that the US government is known for its cost effeciency. "This would be so much more expensive than killing thousands of people and covering NY in ash! Oh, and we could blame Iraq! SYNERGY, BABY!"
― da croupier, Sunday, 2 March 2008 17:19 (seventeen years ago)
They tried telling me the English Channel was real. It seems to me that transporting that much water, is a lot more expensive than painting a wall with a mural of the sea and putting up at Calais

― da croupier, Sunday, 2 March 2008 17:29 (seventeen years ago)
My physics teacher at school said that it was perfectly possible for them to land on the moon in '69, in terms of technology.

not as stupid as this comment We here in America, who experienced 9-11 first-hand, are all refreshed and challenged by her unique point of view. I am already visualizing the duct tape over her mouth. What a complete idiot.

Has any moon landing nut explained how it is that you can see a US flag on the moon with an off-the-shelf telescope?
― libcrypt, Sunday, 2 March 2008 18:17 (seventeen years ago)

I ain't even gone lie. i been thinkin about it for a minute now. not even all because of his name or his race or anything. just some stuff that i read in the bible is makin me think it could be him. like, it said that the antichrist would come off as this good person who stood for peace and everything. now, i ain't sayin that world peace is bad or anything, cuz im all for it. but it's other stuff too. clearly he different from any other president we've ever had. and in the bible, i forgot where they said he would come from, i gotta find it, but i know he wasn't from America. I think from the east or somethin. I gotta look that up. And his name is Barack Hussein Obama But I ain't gon knock him, cuz i could be wrong. maybe he just another dude who want a lil peace in the world. but for this dude to come out the blue soundin like the antichrist himself, u can't say that don't sound like a conspiracy. but hey, that's just me. ima skeptical person. but wat u think?

crap
In my mind, I've started a relationship with Marion Cotillard, the french actress. Advice on what to get her? http://www.goceleb.biz/nues/M/MarionCoti...
I'm thinking of inviting her to North Dakota for a wild weekend of ice fishing, topped with an evening of Stop N' Go's best cheeseburgers and a movie at the local cinema. Personally I don't think there is much of a difference between Paris and any town in North Dakota/Minnesota.
Any other advice on how to make this next ten weeks in my immagination the best 10 weeks ever?
Thanks!
― gershy, Sunday, 2 March 2008 20:37 (seventeen years ago)
North Dakota is probably less of an outrageously overpriced rundown shitheap.

In fact the English Channel was built specifically as a publicity stunt for Little Britain star David Walliams. Before then you could walk over to France if you wanted - but nobody wanted to BELIEVE they could.

She probably saw the same documentary--"Opération Lune"--that I saw on French TV. The show was first broadcast on April 1, and it's a very canny hoax which explains that the footage of the moon landing was shot by Stanley Kubrick in a studio. Talking heads include Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld, as well as Kubrick's widow.
As for the 9/11 theories, I got a fair number of those when I was in France. One of the least attractive things I encountered there. It does seem to have a lot of overlap with the kind of genteel anti-Semitism that seems to be still admissable there, perhaps not in this case but I wouldn't doubt it either.
