DG, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 13:13 (seventeen years ago)

i heard he might throw in something crazy headline-grabbing like a tax on plastic bags to distract from the fact that we're all fucked. that'll do it.

Upt0eleven, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 13:15 (seventeen years ago)

Not a tax, just insisting supermarkets charge

Ed, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 13:23 (seventeen years ago)

cameron really is a prize twit.

Thomas, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 13:25 (seventeen years ago)

The absence of tacky Division Belles pictures on Google Images saddens me.

Brown should definitely deliver today's speech in straw boater, stripy jacket and cane, though, before finishing off with a soft shoe shuffle in tandem with the ladies. More showbiz!

Dingbod Kesterson, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 13:26 (seventeen years ago)

# Beer up by 4p a pint, wine 14p a bottle, spirits 55p a bottle and cider 3p a litre by Sunday.

Right, that's what you care about, everyone can go home now

Dom Passantino, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 13:28 (seventeen years ago)

Division Belles be damned, the Demon Eyes run the country.

I see he has gone back to the tatty box that gordon eschewed.

Ed, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 13:42 (seventeen years ago)

The money was just resting in his account...

suzy, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 13:44 (seventeen years ago)

"By this time next week you will have to... kick Gordon Brown up the arse!"

snoball, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 14:03 (seventeen years ago)

Budget aside that Father Ted episode is just about perfect TV.

Jarlrmai, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 14:06 (seventeen years ago)

Even allowing for the budget, Father Ted is better.

Mark G, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 14:08 (seventeen years ago)

We're going to need some more chairs if you're all coming here.

Mark G, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 15:51 (seventeen years ago)

55p on a bottle of spirits??? Robbing twat.

Noodle Vague, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 15:52 (seventeen years ago)

But Jade Goody backs it!

Herman G. Neuname, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 15:54 (seventeen years ago)

That BBC panel ought to be on Give Us A Clue.

Dingbod Kesterson, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 15:56 (seventeen years ago)

Now, I'm not down with indirect taxation anyway, but it strikes me that people burning petrol might be fucking up the world a bit more than the people swilling Vodkat.

Noodle Vague, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 15:56 (seventeen years ago)

Nazi Jade.
Weirdo dummy dancer Colin "Always Fucking Up When It Matters" Jackson.
Damian Lewis whom we all loved in...um...er, what was he in again?...
Spiv Theo.
Trisha - is she even still on Channel 5?
Kate Mosse, the well known typing error.

Dingbod Kesterson, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 15:58 (seventeen years ago)

Reading the conservativehome live blog of the budget (someone had to) is like visiting another planet.

Superb by Cameron. Showed Darling how to make a speech

Darling visibly shrunk at DC's onslaught while Brown could only grin with embarrasment.

Also, the off the cuff put downs of the nauseating Balls were top draw. D C is top class thinking on his feet. What a contrast with Darling's turgid droning and regular mispronunciations.

I know I'm hardly an unbiased observer but he looked to me like he was reading a pre-written speech, was flustered by Balls shouting out (which was fairly childish) and had to look down to remember his big joke "The City may be having a credit crunch but this Government is having a credibility crunch.". The man has no fucking substance whatsoever.

Cameron is soooooooooooo overrated in the Commons! He's really not that good beyond the yah boo sucks knockabout stuff. Balls' comment, "So weak" = OTM!

Tom D., Thursday, 13 March 2008 11:03 (seventeen years ago)

Cameron having to look down to remember his big joke - roffles!

Dingbod Kesterson, Thursday, 13 March 2008 12:34 (seventeen years ago)

one year passes...

how about "My colleague the Prime Minister and I ha've managed to wreck the economy over the past 10 years after inheriting a good ecenomy and have undone all the repairs the Conservatives had made since 1979 when they picked up the last shambles left by a Labour government, I hereby tender my resignation as chancellor"
