Why have constructive meetings about competency frameworks? Why explain to my team that they might all benefit from working on their individual, idiosyncratic difficulties with communication skills?
Why not just wear these to work tomorrow, when I've finished working half the fucking night to make up for my 'team''s fucking lazy and/or hyperslowmethodical approach?

I know as a habitual lurker it's a high-risk strategy for me to start rant threads with swearwords in, but bear with me.
― ljubljana, Thursday, 13 March 2008 22:40 (seventeen years ago)
what is this thread about it look intersting.
― The Brainwasher, Thursday, 13 March 2008 22:41 (seventeen years ago)
This thread is about failure as a 'manager' due to excessive respect for laughable people skills, and desire to become one of those monsters that 'tell it straight' and who nobody expects to have any fucking people skills.
― ljubljana, Thursday, 13 March 2008 22:44 (seventeen years ago)
fucking people skills?
― Michael White, Thursday, 13 March 2008 22:45 (seventeen years ago)
Yeah! and those!
― ljubljana, Thursday, 13 March 2008 22:48 (seventeen years ago)
They should totally be in our new 'competency' 'framework'. Core fucking people skills, intermediate, and advanced. And 'contra-indicators'.
― ljubljana, Thursday, 13 March 2008 22:49 (seventeen years ago)

Thanks Felicity. Can I have a pink whip to match? For actual flogging, nothing kinky or enjoyable.
― ljubljana, Thursday, 13 March 2008 23:06 (seventeen years ago)
if you fuck your clothes today, you won't want to wear them tomorrow.
― jaxon, Thursday, 13 March 2008 23:18 (seventeen years ago)
You're saying, delayed gratification? Fuck them at the weekend?

― Ned Trifle II, Thursday, 13 March 2008 23:49 (seventeen years ago)
I'd quite like to call THEM and vent, but I'll settle for you, Ned.
― ljubljana, Thursday, 13 March 2008 23:51 (seventeen years ago)
Fucking VOICEMAIL Ned!
Ned T Rifle soothes with tails of crazy university professorial antics.
― ljubljana, Friday, 14 March 2008 00:18 (seventeen years ago)
Core fucking people skills: fucking colleagues in the open plan office while accessing the Corporate File Plan. Intermediate fucking people skills: fucking people in your office while placing enquirers on Call Park. Intermediate fucking people skills: fucking the Board at a hotel specially hired for the purpose while defending your redrafted-at -2am strategic plan to the Chair.
― ljubljana, Friday, 14 March 2008 00:22 (seventeen years ago)
Contra-indicators: a life.
I'd like to see the tail of a crazy professor.
― Ned Trifle II, Friday, 14 March 2008 01:04 (seventeen years ago)
Not that particular one you wouldn't.
― ljubljana, Friday, 14 March 2008 01:08 (seventeen years ago)
Go to sleep!
― Ned Trifle II, Friday, 14 March 2008 01:09 (seventeen years ago)
No, for I am filing the tail of the corporate strategic fuck plan.
― ljubljana, Friday, 14 March 2008 01:10 (seventeen years ago)
i want to wear clothes that are all the colours of all the highlighter pens in pen corale on my stupid desk
― rrrobyn, Friday, 14 March 2008 03:21 (seventeen years ago)
whatever you wear, make sure it widens participation
― whatever, Friday, 14 March 2008 05:39 (seventeen years ago)
I wearing: heels and a new top and swingy trousers. The swingy trousers certainly widen something. The heels will enable me to reach low-hanging fruit. The top is the colour of the amber on the Corporate Risk Register.
― ljubljana, Friday, 14 March 2008 09:20 (seventeen years ago)
No colour coordinated bullwhip though?
― Ed, Friday, 14 March 2008 09:26 (seventeen years ago)
That top needs to be able to change colour as risk increases.
― Ned Trifle II, Friday, 14 March 2008 09:39 (seventeen years ago)
It will as she begins to draw blood.
― Ed, Friday, 14 March 2008 09:46 (seventeen years ago)
Yes, and after the blood red, green as they cry and beg for mercy and get covered in snot. (Sorry)
― ljubljana, Friday, 14 March 2008 19:04 (seventeen years ago)
all the things i am wearing today and yesterday were shades of grey
― rrrobyn, Friday, 14 March 2008 19:32 (seventeen years ago)
tho today there are some shades of brown
winter
― rrrobyn, Friday, 14 March 2008 19:40 (seventeen years ago)
There's a woman at work who only EVER wears greens, browns and oranges.
― ljubljana, Friday, 14 March 2008 20:47 (seventeen years ago)
With the exception of our January vacation, I have worn the same clothes every single day this winter. My painting overalls with long johns underneath. I change my undies, don't worry. But as for the long-john top--it's amazing how long I can go between launderings. After menopause there are very few secretions from the armpit region. Life is good.
That said, I still covet this: Florida dress
I WILL HAVE IT.
― Beth Parker, Friday, 14 March 2008 20:57 (seventeen years ago)
I WILL ALSO HAVE the "frumpy" dress Naomi Watts is wearing in this movie. webpage w/ pictures
I haven't managed to lift any of the pictures by control-clicking. Hmmm. Bastards.
― Beth Parker, Sunday, 16 March 2008 19:09 (seventeen years ago)
I nearly always only ever wear brown and black, though I did experiment with purple the other day (present from someone who felt I should wear things that aren't black or brown). It felt a bit bright and therefore wrong, so it's back to brown and black again for me.
