Really? I guess this could easily be a ilm question but i'm talking about the whole show, which is on fire right now. They seem to be revolving different comedians as hosts now, and the ones I've seen this year have been excellent. On amateur night tonight there was a guy singing tonight that blew the roof off with "Nearer my God to Thee" and a woman who breathed new life into Whitney's "I believe in you and me" (one of my favorites). Anyway, thoughts on its past, famous/great appearances (or albums) you remember/attended? Sinbad was the best host I think, as far as the modern incarnation. Glad MoNique got the axe, I like her as a person but not much of her work. That other apollo spinoff was pretty bad.

I like how sometimes they even boo the children.

haha i haven't seen any audience stoop that low but i believe you. I've never seen an amateur comedian or rapper get ANY love. people who try to act even a little bit too-cool-for-school or above good old fashioned showbusiness get the hook with no mercy, i think that's what i love about it.

once i saw some swedish folk singer do a song, this tiny little white girl, and it was a really skeletal almost abstract kind of song (not like lisa loeb or jewel or something), and she had the room in the palm of her hand.

Going way back to the Rudy Rush days, the Bill Clinton impersonator who sang "It Wasn't Me" has some skills.
My friend has a tape of a dude dressed as the Riddler (jim carrey halloween costume style) dancing to "Smooth Criminal" that I've watched more time than I would care to admit. The hate is so strong from the jump, yet they wait like a full minute to have CP Lacey come out and hook him. Best Showtime appearance I've seen.
Except maybe Redbone, which I have on tape, who looks like Snoop Dogg's albino skeleton (or maybe just Bizzy Bone) and gets booed off stage after singing literally two lines of an acapella song he wrote.
Great show. Stopped watching when they replaced Rudy with Monique. Will have to get back on board now that she's gone.
