1. Walking down the street in Berkeley at sunset, I came across a band of roving ten-year olds. One of them, on a pogo stick, was playing a kazoo. Another, in a hat with bear ears, was playing guitar. Somebody's little sister followed on a scooter with a slide whistel, and a boy in a cape and Freddy Krueger sweater sang "when the saints go marching in"

sorry.

i'll make up for it with this story that your opening post reminded me of:

3. Sophmore year of lol college four of my friends and I crammed into a 2-door kia and drove from Chicago to Columbus, GA to protest the School of the Americas at Ft. Benning. Being my first time in the Southern US, I saw about a million beautiful things that knocked me off my feet. But at the end of the protest day, after spending eight hours "tresspassing" on to the base, we marched back out the main entrance. The area surroundeding the base's gate has lots of governemnt housing and is kind of run down and poverty striken. We were some of the last people to leave the area and it was quieter than it had been all day. When we were about 200 yards from the car, as the sun was setting in the most spectacular way, we heard a faint noise coming from behind one of the buildings. We were soon greeted by about a dozen black kids, ages 5-13, chanting and clapping and pumping thier fists to the slogan:

Hey! Hey!
S. O. A!
How many kids
Did you kill today!?

As they approched us, we joined in. We kept chanting with them for the last 100 yards to the car, where we gave them all high-fives. Then we crammed in to our kia and headed off into the Georgia night.
