Surely I'm not the only one here who has a job that sends me all over the place. Often to the less glamorous parts of the world.

This week I've been in a southern Norwegian dormitory town learning just why the suicide rate is so high in scandinavia. (Endless rain, nothing open on sundays)

Anyway what are your strategies for coping, even enjoying being dropped in a little known corner of the world, or even being alone in a busy one. it can be fun and exciting but it takes a certain effort of will to want to go and explore a strange place after an 11 hour work day in the wrong timezone.

three weeks pass...

Why is it that Orbitz (or similar) doesn't see that although flying from New York to Minneapolis with a change in Philadelphia and an 18 hour layover in phoenix may be the cheapest option, it is not something I particularly want to consider.

That's batshit insane. What airline?

suzy, Thursday, 24 April 2008 09:38 (sixteen years ago) link

US Airways. TBH Delta were being somewhat more sane and I think I can square the higher cost with he travel policy.

Also why is there no code for JFK and LGA but not EWR?

Also, in what world is JFK-San Francisco-Philadelphia-London a suitable way to get home?

My sis is a genius at domestic flights, mail her? Madre in FL so sis is at their office from 4pm.

Might just do that, she also may be able to sort out the oneworld B and H conundrum for me. Not that I have my travel dates fixed yet, stupid RNC.

I will give her a heads-up at 4 and sling you the address in the meantime.

one month passes...

This seems to be very worthwhile:

ability to filter out flight results by location of layover, duration of layover and the holy grail of being able to leave EWR out of NYC flight searches (plus upfront information on reliability, how much luggage they loose etc.)
