Oh god, actually, yes! In ninth grade me and my buddy wanted to do a whole 'fly away home' thing with the area Canada geese. Her subdivision was across the street from the home & property of one of the wealthiest men in town (jerky company owner). We 'disguised' ourselves by wearing her dad's baseball caps and safety goggles and carried a padded box over to his house. He had a big, reedy pond in his unfenced front yard where the geese liked to stand, breed, and yell at the world. We started wading in it, highly conspicuously, and sneaked a few eggs until he came out in his underwear and yelled at us. He'd been eating cottage cheese so his mouth and saliva were all slimy white.

We did a bad job of incubating the eggs. :(

More than 7,000 eggs, including 653 belonging to the UK's most protected species.

Total bummer.

the eggs i can kinda understand (attractive, nice shape), it's all the dead birds in the fridge that get me.

koogs, Thursday, 3 April 2008 17:58 (sixteen years ago) link
