The £2 isn't being changed.

Ned Trifle II, Thursday, 3 April 2008 12:56 (seventeen years ago)

other than it still being changed every year.

Ed, Thursday, 3 April 2008 12:57 (seventeen years ago)

The 20p is kind of cool, it's like the Sport Version of the current 20p coin.

Matt DC, Thursday, 3 April 2008 13:02 (seventeen years ago)

Does this mean it will always look slightly out of place, or has this new designer designed one?

Ned Trifle II, Thursday, 3 April 2008 13:03 (seventeen years ago)

oops, xp to Ed.

Yeah, 20p ftw.

Ned Trifle II, Thursday, 3 April 2008 13:03 (seventeen years ago)

Always out of place. Although there have been some good ones. The Locomotion one being my favorite.

Ed, Thursday, 3 April 2008 13:05 (seventeen years ago)

They're no eurocoins, rosbifs!

King Boy Pato, Thursday, 3 April 2008 13:08 (seventeen years ago)

Maybe we need a twonie poll as well.

Ed, Thursday, 3 April 2008 13:08 (seventeen years ago)

So are we stuck with just one version of the £1 now?

Matt DC, Thursday, 3 April 2008 13:09 (seventeen years ago)

The 5p = rubbish, as well.

Matt DC, Thursday, 3 April 2008 13:09 (seventeen years ago)

I like the way the edge of the shield cuts through the border of the 20p.

chap, Thursday, 3 April 2008 13:12 (seventeen years ago)

i didn't even notice that they all fit together to make the shield image. duh

Ste, Thursday, 3 April 2008 13:20 (seventeen years ago)

i like the smooth bits of the £1

stet, Thursday, 3 April 2008 13:29 (seventeen years ago)

20p always gonna have an advantage being octagonal. 1p looks sleek.

Upt0eleven, Thursday, 3 April 2008 13:33 (seventeen years ago)

I hate the smooth bits of all of them.

Tracer Hand, Thursday, 3 April 2008 13:36 (seventeen years ago)

20p - not octagonal, septagonal

Ed, Thursday, 3 April 2008 13:38 (seventeen years ago)

I hate the smooth bits of all of them.

indeed, we are not a po-dunk channel island.

Ed, Thursday, 3 April 2008 13:39 (seventeen years ago)

Really like the reversal on the edge of the 20p - from raised details to indented.

Michael Jones, Thursday, 3 April 2008 14:12 (seventeen years ago)

Are those pictures above actual size? If so, I'm going to need a new wallet!

Neil S, Thursday, 3 April 2008 14:16 (seventeen years ago)

Why isn't there an "I don't like any of them!" option?

I don't think I shall like looking at lions arses on the 20p coin.

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 3 April 2008 14:19 (seventeen years ago)

They can reintroduce the bawbee and the groat when Scotland gets independence

Tom D., Thursday, 3 April 2008 14:22 (seventeen years ago)

Get a smaller screen instead xp. 20p wins, but they're all great. The coppers may not look so good when they lose their shine, though.

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 3 April 2008 14:24 (seventeen years ago)

They'll all look much better when they lose their shine!

Tracer Hand, Thursday, 3 April 2008 14:25 (seventeen years ago)

It's all a bit track suit

Tracer Hand, Thursday, 3 April 2008 14:25 (seventeen years ago)

Whaddaya know, I changed my mind. 50p wins. I like the harp best, and lion's face>lion's arse.

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 3 April 2008 14:26 (seventeen years ago)

Are those pictures above actual size? If so, I'm going to need a new wallet!

-- Neil S, Thursday, 3 April 2008 14:16

Exactly my first thought!

I like to 10p the best but I can't say why.

Tracer Hand, Thursday, 3 April 2008 14:33 (seventeen years ago)

Don't like the 20p at all. The 50p is okay, though.

emil.y, Thursday, 3 April 2008 14:41 (seventeen years ago)

The 50p is probably the least offensive, but I can't say I like it.

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 3 April 2008 14:42 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Sunday, 6 April 2008 23:01 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

ILX System, Monday, 7 April 2008 23:01 (seventeen years ago)

That's pretty much the way I'd rank them.

Alba, Monday, 7 April 2008 23:07 (seventeen years ago)

three months pass...

Got my first new coin today. A penny. I rather like the detailing on the harp.

Ed, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 12:15 (seventeen years ago)

I've had a penny for a couple of weeks. Expect it'll be a long time before I get the whole set though.

ledge, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 12:17 (seventeen years ago)

is there any reason at all for the 2p coin's continuing existence?

salsa shark, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 12:52 (seventeen years ago)

Trouser-pocket lobby.

Alba, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 12:55 (seventeen years ago)

sometimes one penny sweet just won't do?

xpost

ken c, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 12:56 (seventeen years ago)

all of these designs just looks like their designer stumbled across the "move layer" function on photoshop, dragged his mouse by accident and thought "AHH!"

ken c, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 12:58 (seventeen years ago)

The 2p the only coin that will stick in a Dyson hoover pipe.

I said Coin. No other pics of other things that may or may not stick in a Dyson hoover pipe thanks.

Mark G, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 12:59 (seventeen years ago)

four weeks pass...

I've got a 1p and a 2p so far (they appeared just within the last couple of weeks), but have not seen any of the others yet. I thought working in a cash-heavy shop might help my collection, but obviously not so far.

krakow, Thursday, 14 August 2008 07:27 (seventeen years ago)

I must admit, when I first saw the new penny in my hand the other day I wondered if I'd been given a foreign coin in my change.

Surely the new design only works if you've got the whole set and can fit them together to make the picture...

Daniel Giraffe, Thursday, 14 August 2008 10:21 (seventeen years ago)

I had a 5p last week, that's all so far.

Ste, Thursday, 14 August 2008 12:42 (seventeen years ago)

ten months pass...

Have been reading some interesting stuff about this over the last week, since the designer Matt Dent won a big rare (D&AD) design award for them. I didn't know that he was a Royal Mint competition winner or that he was offensively young. Anyway it's pretty cool that he was able to do this and it's being appreciated on that level.
