What's the Warsaw Tavern?

baaderonixx, Friday, 11 April 2008 13:52 (seventeen years ago)

http://www.ofb.net/~epstein/sl/20031110-satriales-front.jpg

Dom Passantino, Friday, 11 April 2008 13:54 (seventeen years ago)

Warsaw Tavern is from the Drew Carey show.

roxymuzak, Friday, 11 April 2008 13:56 (seventeen years ago)

that last one (xpost)

James Redd and the Blecchs, Friday, 11 April 2008 13:57 (seventeen years ago)

Cheers! Anyone who votes for anything else is probably insane! Anyone who votes for central perk, probably certifiably so.

Pashmina, Friday, 11 April 2008 13:58 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah, but Cheers isn't really a canonical sitcom hangout, because it's where the majority of the show action occurs anyway.

roxymuzak, Friday, 11 April 2008 14:00 (seventeen years ago)

i voted Arnold's

pros: best jukebox (also free if thumped), Weezer
cons: crepey old dude in leather jacket hanging out in bathroom

Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 11 April 2008 14:00 (seventeen years ago)

roxymuzak, Friday, 11 April 2008 14:05 (seventeen years ago)

Don't know what these are:

Degrassi: TNG
Mad About You
Three's Company
Mama's Family

Tom D., Friday, 11 April 2008 14:08 (seventeen years ago)

Also, don't think The Drew Carey Show was ever shown in the UK either

Tom D., Friday, 11 April 2008 14:09 (seventeen years ago)

I'd never hang out at Cheers

baaderonixx, Friday, 11 April 2008 14:17 (seventeen years ago)

Unless I'm attending a congress in some god-forsaken midwest town

baaderonixx, Friday, 11 April 2008 14:18 (seventeen years ago)

wow, three's company isn't known outside the us?

mizzell, Friday, 11 April 2008 14:18 (seventeen years ago)

does the bar on how i met your mother have a name?

mizzell, Friday, 11 April 2008 14:19 (seventeen years ago)

What was the cafe in Twin Peaks called? Or the pub in Northern Exposure? I don't think those are on the list.

Tuomas, Friday, 11 April 2008 14:19 (seventeen years ago)

Cafe in Twin Peaks was the Double R Diner, can't believe I left it out.

roxymuzak, Friday, 11 April 2008 14:21 (seventeen years ago)

i was thinking about the twin peaks cafe. double r diner?

xp

Jordan, Friday, 11 April 2008 14:22 (seventeen years ago)

That cafe had the best jukebox!

Tuomas, Friday, 11 April 2008 14:22 (seventeen years ago)

northern exposure - 'the brick', apparently.

Jordan, Friday, 11 April 2008 14:23 (seventeen years ago)

regal beagle, no contest

gershy, Friday, 11 April 2008 14:24 (seventeen years ago)

no home and away diner?

darraghmac, Friday, 11 April 2008 14:25 (seventeen years ago)

10 Forward!

Jordan, Friday, 11 April 2008 14:28 (seventeen years ago)

SCOTTY IN TEN FORWARD TRYING TO GET SOME SCOTCH

Jordan, Friday, 11 April 2008 14:31 (seventeen years ago)

The bar they sometimes went to in Roseanne always looked pretty good.

blueski, Friday, 11 April 2008 14:32 (seventeen years ago)

Al Swerengen's saloon

Damn, I was trying to find a name for that place!

roxymuzak, Friday, 11 April 2008 14:35 (seventeen years ago)

what was the bar in All In The Family? that one was good until Archie bought the joint and they made it into a crappy show

gershy, Friday, 11 April 2008 14:36 (seventeen years ago)

hangouts that make me hungry because the food looks good - northern exposure, seinfeld, twin peaks.

Jordan, Friday, 11 April 2008 14:37 (seventeen years ago)

The bar they sometimes went to in Roseanne always looked pretty good.
The Lobo!

mizzell, Friday, 11 April 2008 14:42 (seventeen years ago)

I don't remember that at all!

roxymuzak, Friday, 11 April 2008 14:43 (seventeen years ago)

regal beagle = white wine and tunafish sandwiches

brownie, Friday, 11 April 2008 14:46 (seventeen years ago)

The Bait Shop is hilarious. I think they probably hung out at the unnamed diner on the pier more often, though:

jaymc, Friday, 11 April 2008 15:04 (seventeen years ago)

also missing - the bar in Ally McBeal and the Emerald City Bar

I vote Riff's for utility, the wide-ranging menu and of course the charming service

gabbneb, Friday, 11 April 2008 15:07 (seventeen years ago)

i can't remember a single thing about mad about you and i'm amazed that anyone else can.

Jordan, Friday, 11 April 2008 15:08 (seventeen years ago)

i own the first-season dvd, but had to look it up

gabbneb, Friday, 11 April 2008 15:09 (seventeen years ago)

Cooper's had some sweet looking barmaids. Plus they had a sandwich called the Deacon.

Bill Magill, Friday, 11 April 2008 15:13 (seventeen years ago)

But I'll go with the Regal Beagle for the Larry Dallas factor

Bill Magill, Friday, 11 April 2008 15:14 (seventeen years ago)

I'd rather get a bullet in the head than go to Central Perk.

Bill Magill, Friday, 11 April 2008 15:15 (seventeen years ago)

also missing - the bar in Ally McBeal

with Vonda Shepherd in residence and all the crepey men (Fish, Cage and those twins at least)? WORST TV HANGOUT EVER.

blueski, Friday, 11 April 2008 15:34 (seventeen years ago)

lol i forgot all about "vonda shepherd." HUGE star now of course.

s1ocki, Friday, 11 April 2008 15:43 (seventeen years ago)

peach pit v. peach pit after dark

andrew m., Friday, 11 April 2008 15:44 (seventeen years ago)

i could do a British version of this but it's really just a short list of horrible looking pubs

blueski, Friday, 11 April 2008 15:46 (seventeen years ago)

and Byker Grove

blueski, Friday, 11 April 2008 15:46 (seventeen years ago)

I'd totally forgotten about Vonda Shepherd too. Did she ever had any other hits except the Ally McBeal theme song?

Tuomas, Friday, 11 April 2008 15:46 (seventeen years ago)

my real favorites aren't on the poll so i voted for the Maxx.

Jordan, Friday, 11 April 2008 15:47 (seventeen years ago)

Did she ever had any other hits except the Ally McBeal theme song?

her cover of ODB's 'Got Your Money' is pretty slammin'

blueski, Friday, 11 April 2008 15:49 (seventeen years ago)

Queen Vic > Woolpack > Rovers Return > was there ever a pub in Brookside?

Matt DC, Friday, 11 April 2008 15:52 (seventeen years ago)

Al Swerengen's saloon

The Gem. Also a whorehouse, of course. In the interest of completeness I also add the Belle Union and Chez Amis.

Did the cop bars on "The Wire" have names? Orlando's surely deserves a mention, and Little Johnny's Diner, too.

Oilyrags, Friday, 11 April 2008 15:53 (seventeen years ago)

Anyway Cheers wins this obviously but the diner in Twin Peaks always made me hungry.

does the bar/lounge on Girlfriends have a name? i love that place!

horseshoe, Friday, 11 April 2008 17:59 (seventeen years ago)

I'm still sad that the Mar-T-Cafe (filming location for the Double RR Diner) burned down.

Elvis Telecom, Friday, 11 April 2008 18:01 (seventeen years ago)

This bar too...

Elvis Telecom, Friday, 11 April 2008 18:02 (seventeen years ago)

As a Clevelander from the same neighborhood as Drew Carey, I had to go with the Warsaw.

kate78, Friday, 11 April 2008 18:13 (seventeen years ago)

in the show it's called Kavanagh's (based on a defunct bar called Kavanaugh's) and IRL the shooting location is a punk/metal club called The Sidebar.

Alex in Baltimore, Friday, 11 April 2008 18:16 (seventeen years ago)

Isn't Moe's modeled after Kelsey's from All in the Family? Always seemed like the same place, except with more purple, green & yellow.

Anyway - Regal Beagle, because of the Susan Anton and Marilu Henner types sitting a few tables away.

dave 2¼, Friday, 11 April 2008 18:55 (seventeen years ago)

And Orlando's is The Ritz.

xpost

kingkongvsgodzilla, Friday, 11 April 2008 18:59 (seventeen years ago)

The business is pretty much the same.

The Boar's Nest from "Dukes of Hazzard"

http://digilander.libero.it/italiandoh/picgallery/boarsnest/boarsnest.jpg

"Roscoe said he'd let us off the hook from that ticket if we'd come up here and play you a little song."

Pleasant Plains, Friday, 11 April 2008 19:02 (seventeen years ago)

Damn, Pleasant Plains. Why you gotta be so right?

kingkongvsgodzilla, Friday, 11 April 2008 19:04 (seventeen years ago)

Regal Beagle. Would say Shooters, but any attractive people there are quite possibly dangerous sociopaths.

dell, Friday, 11 April 2008 19:12 (seventeen years ago)

Bada Bing! from Sopranos? Probably not a place you'd want to hang out... Actually I'm sure a large proportion of ILX would go there...

i could do a British version of this but it's really just a short list of horrible looking pubs

the joint from 'Teachers' thx.

S-, Friday, 11 April 2008 19:21 (seventeen years ago)

There are Owls at the RoadHouse.

The Yellow Kid, Friday, 11 April 2008 20:42 (seventeen years ago)

you couldn't hang out at Bada Bing in the daytime tho, well maybe some people here could

blueski, Friday, 11 April 2008 22:44 (seventeen years ago)

DC: no Brookside pub, we never saw the interior of The Legion, just Ron Dixon waddling off to it - so by default, BAR BROOKIE.

suzy, Friday, 11 April 2008 23:32 (seventeen years ago)

The Regal Beagle will win this by virtue of being full of comedy hot-chick stewardesses with a pre-AIDS sexual-revolution mentality, which I guess is a perfectly fine and awesome reason to win.

That said, I kinda want to hang w/ Horseshoe at Joan's restaurant in Girlfriends. Also the Bronze, except that the constant demon attacks and lurking vampires are not something I much look for in a bar. There can't be anyone in that town who hasn't at some point been held hostage in the Bronze.

Barry Grant had a classy bar/nightclub on the parade. Can't remember what it was called though - possibly "Bev's", after Bev took it over?

lukas, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 11:01 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah would have voted for Moes if was on list, for obv reasons: so I'll go for the Maxx.

Ernie's gym & Juice Bar: http://www.rangercentral.com/episodes/ep005/eppic14.jpg

The pizza place on Daria seemed like it best captured the virtues of a good real-life hangout. There's no pretense that it's an actually cool place or that bands play there or even that the pizza's any good - it's just some place that they can go and be at that's not their houses.
