For some reason I'm obsessed with corny things from the 50s like milkshakes and rollerskating, and I also always wanted to have a place to chill that was like one of the "make-out point" type places from TV shows--basically just a cool place to park your car, or just sit out on the grass or something, where you can kind of overlook the whole city, or at least a nice view of something.
Does anyone know of any such places in the NYC/Long Island area?

Yeah, I mean rooftops in NYC are kind of obvious, I guess I was thinking more of Long Island places, or places that are less urban.
