IMDB
Trailer looks only so-so, but I still think these guys' best stuff is when they're allowed to go on for 5-10 minutes, like the dinner table scene or when Ricky Bobby runs about thinking he's on fire.
Comes out july 2008 in americaland, august in other anglo places, september in tuomasland.

Damn it, when will Reilly get a vehicle that can support the full weight of his comedic genius? Will it take a Dr. Steve Brule movie?

I dunno, i thought that Walk Hard made great use of Reilly's talents.

It had a few really good moments but just didn't quite do it for me overall.
― Simon H., Monday, 14 April 2008 06:36 (seventeen years ago)
'walk hard' was great.
i hope this will be good too. 'semi pro' was a big let-down.
― banriquit, Monday, 14 April 2008 08:08 (seventeen years ago)
I loved these guys in Talladeega Nights (though Blades of Glory was an even better Ferrell sports/buddy flick), so hopefully this one will be good as well. Has Reilly officially become a comedy actor now? Didn't he make his reputation as a Serious Actor? Not that there's anything wrong with either.
― Tuomas, Monday, 14 April 2008 08:12 (seventeen years ago)
he got famous doing paul thomas anderson's first three films, and he was v funny in 'boogie nights' though it wasn't strictly a comedy.

I concur. Seemed like Ferrell was having more fun than in TN, which seemed a bit too "big budget" and that's usually he kiss of death for a comedy
― THEY DRANK THE WATER!, Wednesday, 17 September 2008 00:11 (seventeen years ago)
I really liked it. Especially the Billy Joel Cover Band - ONLY 80's!! Had the same kind of whimsy as 'Hot Rod', but with more bad words.

blades of glory was funny (better supporting cast), semi-pro was pushing it,
oddly I was not interested in either of these movies. Partly because I hate that fucking Napoleon Dynamite actor and sports movies are always bleh. Talladega Nights was okay but not really as non-stop funny as this.
― I'm Into that Japanese Pop-Funk (Shakey Mo Collier), Monday, 30 March 2009 22:40 (sixteen years ago)
"blades of glory was funny (better supporting cast), semi-pro was pushing it, and this one was just overboard in the worst ways possible"
So wrong in so many ways.
― Alex in SF, Monday, 30 March 2009 22:43 (sixteen years ago)
yeah jon heder is pretty pointless but 'blades of glory' has will arnett and amy poehler (also rob corrdry i think) and it's far more ridiculous in a good way than step brothers— idk will ferrell as a figure skater just seems inherently full of possibility to me. i don't remember much else about it since i haven't seen it in the two years or so since it's come out but i remember being pleasantly surprised by how funny it was
― tweet me 911 (J0rdan S.), Monday, 30 March 2009 22:44 (sixteen years ago)
"blades of glory" at least had the videotaped routine scene - I can't remember anything funny about "step brothers."

I know you two are technically married but that does not mean that they have to live here.Dr. Robert Doback: Dale, I think it's time for a change. For both of us.Dale Doback: Dad, we're men. That means a few things - we like to shit with the door open, we talk about pussy, we go on riverboat gambling trips, and we make our own beef jerky.
