Audience recording will probably sound better than a desk recording - the latter will be too clean and unbalanced - at least for the full bands?

We're really looking forward to this gig- last year's Lolrus Festival was a HUGE amount of fun, and it'll be fum to come back and do it all over again! My only disappointment is that the love of my life, who lives in S.E. and has yet to see us play, will miss this one as she'll be back in her native Ireland, worse bloody luck...

Kate, I don't think you've got that much to worry about. 1)You guys will be fab and 2) Pash and I haven't had a chance to play together since the last gig we did in February. We're gonna be doing an all-improv set for this one as a result, which should prove to be, erm, 'interesting'!

Actually, I'm afraid I'm gonna have to request a change in the running order on the behalf of Vietgrove. We'll (i.e. Pash) be driving back to Newcastle after our slot, and as it's a bloody long way we'll be wanting to hit the road by TEN AT THE LATEST. Would one of the other bands therefore mind swapping- you'd be doing us a huge favour!

Mark, dude, it'll be easier this way, we can load out straight into the car and bounce out of there w/o leaving all our gear in the dark for a few hours & probably forgetting something & leaving it behind. I'm rarely in bed before 3am these days so driving back will be no problem.

No worries in that case- you're the man behind the wheel!

Hooray, I really enjoyed that. Think the Chemistry Experiment were probably my favourite of the day but everyone was great.

Also Ken's cover of Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger totally r0x0red. Dr C satisfied Pinefoxian calls to "play some balls to the wall rock and roll" and I greatly enjoyed the Boss duets at the end.

Sorry to not make it, got an emergency support call at work and didn't get out of the huge and sinister broadcasting organisation till 9pm. Hope all was groovy.

It was kind of charming to observe how DC was so surprised at how much he liked the Boss covers.

DC was right about Gooblar, he did have some Costello about him.

Erm, I think I left soon after that, I was getting a sore neck from watching the tv and my friends wanted to go home, so sorry for not really getting into the spirit of ILX Lolrus festival. I ate barbecue though, which I've missed every other time I've been to an all-dayer at the Windmill. Goood work everyone, especially the shouty guy with bricks who rounded everyone up and got them inside so they could pay and buy drinks and such.

Yes! Was brilliant day/night! Had a great time, and was well impressed by the high level of talent all around (m'self excluded, of course). Even managed to stay sober enough to get through my set! Would have liked to have seen those penalties, but what are you gonna do.

A very good festival I reckon - everyone was fantastic in a totally different way. The Red Bulldozers were superb fun and the best possible way to kick off the event - but more vocoder next time, Ken! The Chemistry Experiment were magnificent - flute, harmonies, bubbly keyboards and great melodies. Autorotation's two-basses, tons of effects, syn-drums and soaring vocals created a unique kind of funky psychedelia - very, very nice! And of course The Pinefox dipped into his collection of great songs with some very finely observed melancholia. Sadly I missed Gooblar,(Sorry, Gooblar!) as I had to hit the road for a v. early start today.

We enjoyed ourselves v much - a great audience helped of course, and the onstage sound was excellent.

I missed the barbecue, boo.

Everybody was brilliant - I think I liked Autorotation best, for I am a sucker for *wubwubwub* noises and pretty singing. I enjoyed myself so much I almost moved to London so I didn't have to go home and miss Pinefox/G00blar, but was (wisely, I think) talked out of it.

You know, unless someone not in one of the bands posts to this thread, they're going to start calling us The Scene That Celebrates Itself.

Met yr drummer the day before at a party and he was teaching all the kids how to drum despite being quite drunk. They were very impressed.

kids: "How does he do that whilst being quite drunk?"

It was the kids who were drunk - we are terrible parents.

Ned, really? Wow. You can't escape us! In a way I am not surprised, he once pwned us all at pool despite being so drunk he could barely stand and it being 5 in the morning. On the other hand, he once got thrown out of a venue for being too drunk BEFORE we had even played yet.

Yes, it's a terrifyingly small world. He knows my friend Andy whose b'day bash it was, and who was marginally drunker than him. Those north east boys can put it away and then get up the next day and do it again. Whereas I pass out for a week being a soft southern bastard.

It was a corking day. Ken was magnificent and started everything in the perfect manner and there was an alarmingly decent quality level throughout. I totally forgot the yard and ended up with cold bbq meats and finished off the spuds singlehandedly. Sorry we couldn't stay to the end, we got back to Nottingham at 2am well jollied though.

Anyone got any pics? I'm just upping mine now, but I don't think I took that many.

I would have been there as a performing entity (first time for 15 years anywhere save karaoke, and last time ever ever), but our Amber was doing an all-schools choir performance on the same night, and it was Father's Day at the same time.
